A steering wheel includes a ring part, a boss part, spoke parts that connect the ring part and the boss part, a steering wheel main body that includes a core and a covering layer covering the ring part and the spoke parts in the vicinity of the ring part of the core, and a heater unit that warms up at least a portion of the ring part. The heater unit includes a heater main body that includes a base material having a sheet body and a linear heater, and is disposed in a state where an outer face side of the heater main body is covered by a cover layer of the covering layer and a connection part that connects the linear heater and a terminal of a lead wire for power feeding.

In an airbag-equipped steering wheel, a plurality of horn switch mechanisms assembled to a bag holder each have a securing pin, which is inserted into a corresponding one of through holes formed in a metal core. A clip is engaged with a locking groove of each securing pin, so that each horn switch mechanism is fastened to the metal core. The through holes include one or more normal through holes that restrict inclination of the corresponding securing pins, and a special through hole that has an inclination permitting portion. The inclination permitting portion permits the corresponding securing pin to be inclined about the corresponding clipserving as a fulcrum. In the special through hole, the securing pin is permitted to be inclined about the clip serving as a fulcrum only when the clips are disengaged from the securing pin in all the normal through holes.

Airbag-equipped steering wheel device

A plate is provided on an air bag module, and a first pin on which a recessed portion is formed and a second pin on which a recessed portion is formed are provided in positions which are spaced apart from each other. A first clip adapted to be brought into engagement with the recessed portion and a second clip adapted to be brought into engagement with the recessed portion are provided on a steering wheel main body. In addition, bushes for biasing the plate in a direction in which the plate is separated from the steering wheel main body are provided between a first snap-fit portion which is made up of the first pin and the first clip and a second snap-fit portion which is made up of the second pin and the second clip.

An airbag is manufactured by sewing a base fabric woven with a first polar fiber by means of a sewing thread. The sewing thread is made up of a yarn formed from a second polar fiber such as nylon 66, and the yarn is subjected to a lubrication treatment using a lubricating agent that consists of a polar group-containing compound having an action to improve lubricity of the sewing thread or that contains mainly such a polar group-containing compound.

Airbag

An air bag wherein a peripheral wall portion on one side opposite to an opening for introducing an inflation gas is put on the side of a peripheral wall portion having the opening and flattened. The peripheral edges around the opening are folded together closer to the opening side at the first stage. Peripheral edges on the end portion side thus folded around the opening are folded at the second stage in such a manner as to set the peripheral edges closer to the opening side whereby to house the air bag in a casing. The region of an air bag cover which is positioned above and substantially closer to a center of the air bag thus folded up is thick-walled so that the region thereof may protrude downward from the periphery of the air bag.

An air bag for side collision is arranged substantially in the vertical direction between a vehicular inner wall and a passenger in an expanded state of the air bag. A lower side of the air bag is folded to be incorporated into the lower side in the expanded state. The lower side of the air bag in the expanded state is the upstream side of flow of expansion gas. The air bag has a narrowed gas flow port for regulating the flow of the expansion gas between the lower side and the upper side of the air bag in the expanded state so that the lower side can ensure sufficient inner pressure even when the passenger interferes with expansion of the lower side of the air bag during expansion, since the flow of the expansion gas is regulated by the gas communication port provided between the lower side and the upper side of the air bag. As a result, an inflator having small output can be used.
