An elevator apparatus having an easily mountable position detector and capable of detecting the position of a car with good precision. The apparatus has a position detector and a governor driven by a cable connected to an emergency stop device mounted on a car and capable of actuating the emergency stop device when the speed of the car has exceeded a prescribed speed, the position detector being driven by the governor, the apparatus includes a power transmission mechanism for causing rotation of the position detector at a speed higher than the speed of rotation of the governor.

Elevator apparatus

A braking apparatus is provided for an elevator which includes a cage, a counterweight, a main sheave, a motor for rotating the main sheave, a deflector sheave, and a rope wound around the main sheave and the deflector sheave, the rope extending from the cage to the counterweight. The braking apparatus comprises a first brake for the main sheave, and a second brake for the deflector sheave. Both brakes are controlled to apply an appropriate braking force to the cage in accordance with the load and the speed of the cage.

Braking apparatus for elevator cage

In an elevator, for controlling the upward and downward movement of a cage, a shoe is brought into and out of pressing contact with a drum or a disk of a brake by a combination of a spring and a hydraulic cylinder. The optimum braking force is determined in accordance with the inertial mass and the speed of the cage to be braked, and the fluid pressure is controlled to control the force of pressing of the shoe against the drum or the disk, so that the brake can always produce the optimum braking force. A controller for controlling the pressure of the hydraulic cylinder is operated by an emergency power source. The brake can be controlled with a high responsibility and its braking force can be controlled arbitrarily, and even in the event of a power failure, the brake can be operated by the emergency power source of a small-capacity. Therefore, in the normal condition, the cage can be held accurately in its stop position, and in the event of an emergency, the optimum braking force is produced in accordance with the load and the speed of the cage, and the shortest braking distance can be achieved with a small braking impact.

Elevator with means for controlling upward and downward movement of cage

An elevator apparatus is provided with a hoisting unit including a drive sheave for winding a rope around it. The hoisting unit includes a rotary member. The rope has a car attached at one end thereof for suspending. A braking force is applied to the rotary member by a biasing unit. The braking force against the rotary member is released by a releasing unit, and is reduced by a reducing unit. In emergency stop of such an elevator apparatus, slipping of the rope is not caused to control the braking force with ease.

An electromagnetic disc brake for an elevator lifting apparatus comprises a disc spline-coupled with a rotational shaft. Braking body and an armature disposed to clamp the disc; braking springs press the armature against the disc, and an iron core is provided which includes inner and outer magnetic poles each facing the armature and concentrically formed with respect to the rotational shaft. An electromagnetic coil generates magnetic flux to pass through the inner and outer magnetic poles as magnetic paths. In addition, at least one of the pole face of the outer magnetic pole and the facing portion of the armature where it faces the pole face is provided with an arrangement for increasing a magnetic gap, and the braking springs are disposed in portions of the outer magnetic pole. Further, the braking body is supported through a sound absorbing member or one side of the armature facing the disc is formed of a sound absorbing member.

Electromagnetic disc brake for elevator lifting apparatus

A braking device for an elevator winding machine generates a braking force by contacting a rotary body driven by a rotary shaft of the winding machine with a brake section supported through the intermediary of an elastic body. The elastic body has a nonlinear elastic characteristic so that a starting shock to the passengers in the elevator car is prevented and the braking torque detecting accuracy is improved.

An elevator car and a counterweight is suspended on a sheave by means of a rope in a well-rope faashion. In dependence on the number of passengers on the car, the sheave is applied with an unbalance torque making appearance between the car and counterweight. Upon starting of the elevator operation by releasing a brake, upward or backward bouncing of the car takes place due to the unbalance torque. For preventing such bouncing of the car, a start compensation is performed by generating a motor torque which can cancel out the unbalance torque in precedence to the releasing of the brake. The brake is installed swingably on a winding equipment. Displacement of the brake during actuation thereof indicates the presence of the unbalance torque. By taking advantage of this displacement, the start compensation is carried out by increasing the motor torque progressively in the direction depending on the displacement and by holding the motor torque constant at a value attained when the displacement becomes smaller than a predetermined value.

Elevator control apparatus

An elevator apparatus includes an electric motor for driving the elevator apparatus, an elevator cage adapted to be lifted or lowered by the electric motor, a brake device for holding and retaining an elevator driving system, including the electric motor, and a malfunction detecting device responsive to the application of a torque to a retainer section of the brake device during the lifting or lowering of the elevator cage.

This invention discloses a hoisting apparatus for use with an elevator system including a reduction gear assembly connected to a driving electric motor and a sheave. A main rope is reeved around the sheave and a car is suspended from the rope for vertical movement. The reduction gear assembly includes a pair of large and small gears. The small and large gears are connected respectively to the input and output shafts of the reduction gear assembly and the input and output shafts are disposed in face-to-face relationship. The electric motor are connected to the input shaft while the sheave and a brake system is connected to the output shaft. One bearing of the sheave is integral with a gearbox of the reduction gear assembly, and the large gear is supported in an overhanging manner by the shaft of the sheave. This arrangement enables silent and safe operation of elevator cars.
