A road slope estimating device which is mounted on a vehicle and estimates a slope of a road on which the vehicle is traveling, the vehicle including a motor and a transmission capable of changing a shift speed by an engagement switching operation of disengaging one of a plurality of engagement elements and engaging another one of the plurality of engagement elements, and outputting power from the motor via the transmission to travel. An estimating section carries out first road slope estimation from the computed output torque and acceleration of the vehicle until transfer of torque is handed over from the engagement element to be disengaged of the plurality of engagement elements to the engagement element to be engaged. Second road slope estimation is estimated from the computed output torque and the acceleration of the vehicle when the handover of the transfer of torque is carried out.

Road slope estimating device

ECU executes in-neutral control in a case where a first clutch is brought into a half-engagement state on the basis of execution of neutral control. During the in-neutral control, ECU detects engine speed and input-shaft rotating speed, and detects differential rotation before an oil pressure change. Subsequently, in a case where the differential rotation before an oil pressure change detected by ECU has exceeded a first differential rotation threshold value, the operating oil pressure for a hydraulic servo is reduced by the first oil pressure.

A shift control apparatus for an automatic transmission eliminates or reduces a sense of discomfort to the driver and other occupants during slip, while maintaining the necessary driving force. When slip is determined by detection of wheel speed, a slip signal is output. A controller which receives the slip signal outputs a maintaining signal for maintaining the gear stage which existed at the time the slip signal was received, until a predetermined period of time has passed. If the slip continues after the predetermined period of time, the controller outputs a shift signal to the automatic transmission to shift it to a predetermined gear stage, thus reducing driving force and preventing slip from continuing. If the slip stops within the predetermined period of time, the slip signal is canceled such that the current gear stage is maintained and no shift is executed.

Shift control apparatus for an automatic transmission

The disclosed automatic transmission controller is capable of changing shift timing set for non-flat roads in correspondence to a judged driver type. The automatic transmission controller executes a driver type judging routine SUB to generate a judgment output related to the driver type by monitoring the driving of the vehicle and judges the driver type based on the judgment output. Shift timing is changed in running a non-flat road to correspond to the judged driver type. The shift timing in running the non-flat road may be changed by changing from an uphill slope mode shift map to an uphill slope mode shift map corresponding to the driver type or by increasing an upshift inhibiting section of a single map.

Controller for automatic transmission

An automatic transmission controller is capable of compensating for both driver type and tendencies of a driver in temporary acceleration, such as in passing. The automatic transmission controller executes a driver type judging subroutine for judging the overall acceleration habits of the driver and classifying the driver as one of a plurality of driver types by monitoring the driving behavior for a predetermined time. The controller also executes a temporary acceleration inclination judging routine for judging the habits of the driver in temporary acceleration by monitoring driving behavior for a period of time shorter than the predetermined time, and executes shift control routines for controlling and changing the shift timing based on the judged driver type and the inclination in temporary acceleration. The controller controls shift timing, taking into account both the driver type and the inclination in temporary acceleration, such as passing.
