In a spinning reel for fishing, a spool includes a fishline winding barrel portion, a front side flange, a rear cylindrical portion and the like. The spool further includes a recessed portion formed in the inside of the rear end portion of the rear cylindrical portion, and an annular portion is fixed integrally to the recessed portion. The annular portion includes a fixed portion and an annular skirt portion, while the annular skirt potion is so formed as to project inwardly. The leading end inner periphery of the annular skirt portion of the annular potion is opposed to the outer periphery of the large-diameter cylindrical potion of a rotor with a small clearance between them.

Fishline entrance preventive device for a fishing reel

A balancer is integrally and projectingly formed on a boss of a handle arm. The handle arm has a support shaft opposite from the balancer, a knob is rotatably supported on the support shaft. A portion of the handle arm around and in the vicinity of the boss is formed into a smooth surface, and an outer periphery of the balancer is also formed into a smooth surface. Thus, a fishline is prevented from tangling onto the balancer.

A reversal preventive mechanism of a silent type is provided for use in a fishing reel which is capable of playing out a fishing line smoothly when the fishing line is played out by means of the reversed rotation of the handle. A spring is wound on a portion of a rachet wheel circumscribing a drive shaft so that the spring is rotated by the rachet wheel through friction. A control member for separating a securing claw from the rachet wheel is rotatably mounted on the portion of the rachet wheel and connected to said spring in such a manner that an engagement portion of the control member is held by and interposed between extension portions of the spring. A pair of pins are provided to regulate the rotation of the control member. The engagement portion of the control member serves to prevent the undesired contraction of the spring when it abuts against either of the pins.

Reversal preventive mechanism of a silent type for use in a fishing reel

A drag mechanism for a spinning reel for fishing, in which a pressure member is provided to push brake plates provided in a spool and is fitted on a spool shaft so that the member can be moved in the axial direction of the shaft; a drag control knob is screw-engaged with the shaft; the front of the pressure member is fitted on the knob so that the knob can be turned relative to the member and the space between the knob and the member is nearly sealed; and an annular spring is fitted to one of the member and the knob in the space so that the bent projecting portion of the spring is engaged with the engaged undulated part of the inside circumferential surface of the other of the member and the knob in the space. According to the above construction, the drag mechanism, especially the drag control knob can be improved in a water-proof property and reduced in size.

Drag mechanism for spinning reel for fishing

A fishing spinning reel consisting of a rear-end-walled cylinder projecting from the rear portion of a reel casing, a spool shaft which is supported on the rear portion of the reel casing so that it can be turned and axially slid, and which is extended at the rear end portion thereof into the cylinder, a spool shaft-braking drag braking member mounted on the spool shaft in the cylinder, an operating cylinder supported rotatably on the end-walled portion of the end-walled cylinder and formed so as to surround the end-walled cylinder, a rotatable member fitted in the supported portion in the end-walled cylinder of the operating cylinder and adapted to be turned with this supported portion, and a movable regulating member contacting the rear portion of the drag braking member and engaged with the rotatable member so that the regulating member can be moved only in the axial direction of the spool shaft. Owing to the end-walled cylinder, the entry of seawater and sand thereinto can be prevented, so that the operating cylinder and drag means function reliably. Since the movably regulating member is provided, a drag braking operation can be carried out by a small tightening torque of the operating cylinder. The reel casing can be made compact owing to this operating cylinder which does not move back itself.

Fishing reel

A braking device for the spool of a fishing rod is disclosed which contains two separate braking adjustments. The first braking adjustment adjusts the coarse breaking force. The second braking adjustment adjusts a finer braking force. The embodiment discribed uses two springs to bias braking boards to friction boards, the two springs being adjustable separately. The first spring is adjustable by varying the linear displacement of an adjusting cylinder which is threaded into a portion of the fishing spool apparatus. A second adjusting mechanism uses a cam with a varying radius pending on the location of the cam. This varying radius is biased against a leaf spring, thus varying the displacement of the one end of the lead spring depending on the location of the variable cam.
