A sample purification apparatus includes a container for separating, with a heavy solution, a mixed sample based on a specific gravity difference and a collector that collects a component in the mixed sample lighter in specific gravity than the heavy solution by receiving a supernatant flowed out from the container. The container includes a flow-out port provided in an uppermost portion of the container and a flow-out path that guides the supernatant flowed out through the flow-out port to the collector. the container has a horizontal cross-sectional area which gradually decreases upward starting from a prescribed height of the container to a height where the flow-out port is located.

Sample purification apparatus and analysis system

A thermal conductivity detector includes not only a thermal conductivity detector cell disposed so as to be heated by heat transmitted from a first heater block and a column connector connected to the detector cell and to a column of a chromatograph but also a second heater block for heating the column connector. The heaters for individually heating these two heater blocks are controlled simultaneously and in synchronism by a single temperature controller according to the temperature of the first heater block for heating the detector cell.

Thermal conductivity detector

In an automatic sample treatment apparatus of the invention, a tray for vials is provided with slits for a home position and vial positions. The slits for the vial positions have shapes different from that of the slit for the home position. When the apparatus is used, a position detecting sensor detects a desired sample position, and a vial detecting sensor recognizes that the vial is disposed. Then, a syringe is lowered to suck a sample from a vial. Accordingly, even if a stepping motor becomes out of tune, the tray can be transferred to a position in which a needle is securely inserted into the vial.

Automatic sample treatment apparatus

A sample is injected into a gas chromatograph by first slowly causing a needle of a syringe containing the sample to penetrate a septum and be inserted into a sample vaporization chamber and then quickly pushing a plunger to inject the sample into the sample vaporization chamber and pulling out the needle out of the sample vaporization chamber such that effects of discrimination can be controlled and the stress on the needle can be reduced.

Method of injecting a sample into gas chromatograph

An automatic injector is used for introducing a specimen into a specimen analyzing device, such as a gas chromatograph or a liquid chromatograph. The automatic injector is formed of a syringe having a needle at one end and a plunger slidably operationally situated inside the syringe for sucking and injecting the specimen through the needle, a syringe supporting member fixed to the syringe for supporting the same and having a sliding guide, and a needle guide. The needle guide includes a vertical plate portion having a groove for slidably engaging the sliding guide, and a horizontal plate portion fixed to the vertical plate portion and having a needle protection with a hole. A tip of the needle is positioned in the hole to prevent the needle from being bent when the needle is moved downwardly. The automatic injector is driven with a small torque.

A gas chromatograph for operation selectably in both split mode and splitless wide bore injection mode includes a capillary column, a sample injection chamber at the inlet of the column, a three-way valve, a first piping line connected between one of the two outlets of the three-way valve and the sample injection chamber, a split line connected to the sample injection chamber immediately upstream of the inlet of the column for discharging therethrough a portion of a gas being sent out from the sample injection chamber, a second piping line connected between the other of the outlets of the three-way valve and the split line, and a third piping line connected between the first and second piping lines. By properly controlling the total carrier gas flow rate and the column inlet pressure, the split ratio can be controlled easily. By varying the split ratio appropriately during an analysis, the amount of the carrier gas to be wasted in the case of a split mode of operation can be significantly reduced.
