According to one embodiment, a store system includes: an image output section configured to output an image picked up by an image pickup section; an object recognizing section configured to recognize a specific object by reading a feature value of the output image; a similarity determining section configured to calculate similarity indicating to which degree the recognized object is similar to a reference image of the object determined in advance and determine whether the calculated similarity exceeds a threshold set in advance; and a defective informing section configured to inform, if the similarity determining section determines that the calculated similarity does not exceed the threshold set in advance, that the object is not recognized as a regular commodity.

According to one embodiment, a code symbol reading apparatus includes a decoder, a candidate area detection unit, a direction determination unit, and a direction notification unit. The decoder decodes a code symbol attached to an article, based on an image picked up by a camera. The candidate area detection unit detects an image area to be a candidate of the code symbol from the image of the article picked up by the camera. The direction determination unit determines such a direction that a decoding rate of the code symbol becomes higher based on the image area detected by the candidate area detection unit when the decoder cannot decode the code symbol. The direction notification unit notifies of the direction determined by the direction determination unit.

An autonomous traveling unit is advanced toward a wall such that a charging unit is located on the right side. When a distance to the wall reaches a predetermined value not smaller than a thickness of a first member of the charging unit, the autonomous traveling unit is stopped. A plurality of optical beacons that emit light in respective light emitting patterns containing an ID code are distributed and installed in a space in which of a mobile body are moved. The mobile body is provided with a detection unit. The detection unit identifies at least three optical beacons according to the ID codes of the lights emitted according to the optical beacons and detects the direction of light emitted according to each of the identified optical beacons. Then, it detects the position of the mobile body according to the outcome of detection.
