According to an aspect, a soft magnetic metal powder includes a plurality of soft magnetic metal particles containing iron, a surface of each of the soft magnetic metal particles is covered with a coating part, and a maximum height Sz of a surface of the coating part is 10 to 700 nm. According to another aspect, a soft magnetic metal powder includes a plurality of soft magnetic metal particles containing iron, a surface of each of the soft magnetic metal particles is covered with a coating part, and a maximum height Rz of a surface of the coating part is 10 to 700 nm.

Soft magnetic metal powder, dust core, and magnetic component

A dust core includes large particles having an average particle size of 8-15 &#x3bc;m, medium particles having an average particle size of 1-5 &#x3bc;m, and small particles having an average particle size of 300-900 nm when a cross section thereof is observed. An area ratio occupied by the large particles is 50% to 90%, an area ratio occupied by the medium particles is 0% to 30%, and an area ratio occupied by the small particles is 5% to 30%, when a total area ratio occupied by the large particles, the medium particles and the small particles is 100% in the cross section. Vickers hardness (Hv) of the large particles, the medium particles and the small particles is 150-600 respectively. The small particles are alloy powder containing Fe and at least Si or N. The object of the present invention is to provide the soft magnetic material, the core, and the inductor having high permeability and excellent DC superimposition characteristic. The soft magnetic alloy includes a Fe composition network phase where regions whose Fe content is larger than an average composition of the soft magnetic alloy are linked. The Fe composition network phase contains Fe content maximum points that are locally higher than their surroundings. The soft magnetic alloy powder contains Fe&#x2014;Ni-based particles containing 38% to 48% by mass Ni, 1.0% to 15% by mass Co, and 1.2% to 10% by mass Si relative to the total mass of Fe, Ni, Co, and Si, the remainder being Fe. The Fe&#x2014;Ni-based particles have an average size of more than 1 &#x3bc;m to less than 10 &#x3bc;m.

The present invention provides a powder magnetic core low in the loss and high in the saturation magnetic flux density and a method for manufacturing the same. More specifically, the present invention provides a powder magnetic core that comprises a soft magnetic metal powder having an average particle size (D50) of 0.5 to 5 &#x3bc;m, a half width of diffraction peak in a &#x3c;110&#x3e; direction of &#x3b1;-Fe as measured by X-ray powder diffraction of 0.2 to 5.0&#xb0;, and an Fe content of 97.0% by mass or more, the core having an oxygen content of 2.0% by mass or more.
