A power conversion apparatus includes a rotating electrical machine equipped with star-connected windings and an inverter equipped with series-connected units made up of upper arm switches and lower arm switches. The power conversion apparatus also includes a connecting path which electrically connects a negative terminal of a first electrical storage, a positive terminal of a second electrical storage connected in series with the first electrical storage, and a neutral point of the windings together, a connecting switch which is disposed in the connecting path, and a determiner which works to determine whether the connecting switch is required to be turned on, and a controller which turns on the connecting switch when it is determined by the determiner that the connecting switch is required to be turned on to execute a switching control operation on the upper arm switches and the lower arm switches.

Power conversion apparatus

A rotating electric machine includes a stator and a rotor. The stator includes a stator core that has a plurality of slots that are arranged in a circumferential direction and a stator winding that has a plurality of phase coils that are wound in the slots. The rotor is arranged so as to oppose the stator in a radial direction and has a plurality of magnetic poles in the circumferential direction. In the rotating electric machine, each of the phase coils has a plurality of series-connection coil groups that each includes n unit coils that are arranged to be wound in the circumferential direction. In each of the series-connection coil groups, a first end thereof is connected to a phase terminal for a respective phase and a second end is connected to a neutral point, and the series-connection coil groups are connected in parallel.

Rotating electric machine

A rotating electrical machine is equipped with a stator including a stator winding and a stator core with slots. The stator winding includes phase coils each of which is wound in the slots and connected at an end to a phase terminal and at the other end to a neutral point. The phase coils are each made up of unit coils connected in series between a corresponding one of the phase terminals and the neutral point and connected together using connecting conductors. Each of the phase coils includes two or more reversing connecting conductors each of which orients a direction in which the connecting conductor extends from the (i+1)unit coil to the (i+2)unit coil to be opposite to that in which the connecting conductor extends from the iunit coil to the (i+1)unit coil. This coil layout ensures a desired degree of electrical insulation in the stator.

Rotating electrical machine

A rotating electric machine includes a stator and a rotor. The stator includes a stator core and a stator winding that includes phase coils wound around slots of the stator core. Each phase coil is configured such that: a first end is connected to an external terminal; a second end is connected to a neutral point; and 2n (n being a natural number) circling coils are arranged to circle the stator core and connected in series. A neutral-point-side coil is housed in a first slot where a terminal-side coil is housed. The terminal-side coil is a circling coil that is arranged on the external-terminal side of a first phase coil among the phase coils. The neutral-point-side coil is a circling coil that is arranged on the neutral-point side of a second phase coil among the phase coils. The second phase coil is different in phase from the first phase coil.

A drive system for an electric motor includes a first inverter that includes first switching elements, a second inverter that includes second switching elements, and a control unit that includes a first inverter control calculation section controlling on-off operation of each of the first switching elements based on a first carrier wave and a first modulation wave, a second inverter control calculation section controlling on-off operation of each of the second switching elements based on a second carrier wave and a second modulation wave, and a control synchronization section synchronizing the first carrier wave with the second carrier wave. When a sum of voltages of the first voltage source and the second voltage source is more than a voltage determination threshold, and torque of a rotating electric machine is smaller than a torque determination threshold, the control synchronization section synchronizes the first carrier wave with the second carrier wave.
