A small object identifying device and its identifying method according to which a large number of small objects can be identified. In one embodiment, the device includes a dispersion region section which disperses a large quantity of several kinds of small objects which are labeled by a combination of the presence/absence or measure of label elements of several kinds. A measuring device distributes and associates kinds of said label elements to two or more measurement points and measures the presence/absence or the measure of said label elements of the kinds which have been associated with respective measurement points. An identifying section associates the measurement results measured at each measurement point to thereby identify said small objects.

Small object identifying device and its identifying method

The invention aims to provide an optical information reader which can identify precisely, reliably, and with high sensitivity, even when the quantity or the wavelength of light from a measuring object from which optical information is to be read, extends over a wide range. The optical information reader comprises: a substrate on which one or more biological materials labeled by a combination of presence or extent of a plurality of kinds of optical labeling elements are immobilized at one or more different immobilized positions; one or more light-receiving ends capable of receiving light from the substrate; an optical information measuring unit which obtains optical information on a specific measuring object on the substrate based on an electric signal obtained by converting the light received by the light-receiving end by photoelectric elements having different characteristics determined depending on the measuring object; and a scanning unit which scans the substrate by moving the substrate and the light-receiving end relative to each other, and the optical information measuring unit has an optical waveguide.

Optical information reader

This invention relates to a method of fixing an end of a coiled wire on a take up spool and an apparatus therefor. When the wire is wound on the take up spool, an initiating end of the wire is caught by a catching pawl such as a snagger on a catching plate (snagger plate) which integrally rotates together with the take up spool and thereafter it is wound on the take up spool. Before or immediately before wire winding on the take up spool ends, a wire introduction cover advances to cover the filled take up spool. At that time, a terminating end of the wire on the filled take up spool is so led as to run along the inner surface of the wire introduction cover and come close to the catching plate. Wire drawing lever means on a wire drawing plate draws up the terminating end of the coiled wire to catch it on the catching pawl so that the initiating and terminating ends of the coiled wire intersect on the catching plate. Thereafter, the intersecting portions of the initiating and terminating ends of the wire are fixed to each other.
