A motor driver according to the invention comprises (i) an energizing unit supplying drive voltage and drive current to a motor including a moving body and coils, (ii) a speed-position detector detecting a drive speed of the motor and a position of the moving body to output a speed position signal including drive-speed information and position information. The motor driver also includes (iii) a reference signal generator outputting a reference signal, (iv) a phase signal generator using the speed-position signal, the reference signal, and a set signal to output a phase signal indicating a phase of the supplied drive voltage, and (v) a waveforms generator using the position information and the phase signal to output a control signal to the energizing unit. A phase of the supplied drive voltage is regulated to be proportional to the drive speed, wherein a degree of the proportion is set by the set signal.

Motor driver

A motor driving device () includes an inverter (), a speed control unit (), and a regeneration preventing means (). The inverter () converts supplied DC power to driving power for driving a motor (), and supplies the driving power to the motor (). The speed control unit () generates a speed control signal group based on a speed command signal Sref and a speed detection signal N, and adjusts the driving power based on a drive control signal VSP1 included in the speed control signal group, thereby controlling the speed of the motor (). The regeneration preventing means () determines whether the motor () is in a state possibly causing regenerative phenomena or in a state not causing regenerative phenomena based on the speed command information included in the speed command signal Sref and the speed detection information included in the speed detection signal N, and performs a regeneration reduction process to reduce regenerative phenomena according to the determination result, thereby preventing regenerative phenomena.

A gate driver for forcing a power transistor including a gate electrode insulated with oxide film into conduction or shut-off, the gate driver includes a first current source for outputting a first current value to raise an electric potential of the gate electrode for changing shut-off state of the power transistor to conductive state; and a second current source for outputting a second current value to lower the electric potential of the gate electrode for changing the conductive state of the power transistor to the shut-off state. The first current value and the second current value are assigned based on at least one kind of current-source control information. This structure allows preparing an appropriate speed of forcing the power transistor into conduction or shut-off with a small number of elements, and the gate driver can be used with ease for driving power transistors having different output sizes.

Gate driver, motor driving device including the gate driver, and apparatus equipped with the motor driving device

A motor driving device includes a motor having three-phase driving coils, a power feeder for powering the coils, and a power feeding controller for controlling a power feeding method. The controller controls electrical potentials of the coils in a period of applying a voltage to the coils to be a power-supply voltage potential or the grounding potential by turning on or off transistors in the power feeder during a first feeding period which starts from a motor halt status and ends when the motor is driven at a given speed. During a second feeding period where the motor is driven at a speed over the given speed, the controller controls the potential such that the coils are opened by turning off the transistors or the potential becomes the power-supply voltage potential. This structure allows the motor driving device to drive the motor at a lower noise with less vibrations.

Motor driving device, motor to be driven by the same device, and apparatus using the same motor

A motor driver includes a first signal selector and a second signal selector. The first signal selector is used for selecting a signal to be supplied to an energizing unit of driving coils, and selects either one of a normal energizing pattern signal supplied from an energizing signal generator or a signal from the second signal selector based on a signal from an over-current detector. The second signal selector selects either one of a first non-normal energizing pattern signal from a first energizing signal output unit or a second non-normal energizing pattern signal from a second energizing signal output unit based on a signal from a rotary direction detector.

Motor driver, motor driven by the motor driver, and apparatus employing the motor

In a motor driver, based on driving waveforms of respective phases generated by a driving waveform generator, a power feeder feeds respective phase-coils with an alternating current consecutively changing in sine wave. Further, a phase advancing controller adjusts phases of the driving waveform, and performs phase-advancing control such that each phase of back electromotive forces induced in respective phase-coils generally coincides with a phase of the ac running through the coils. In phase-advancing controlling, a phase current is detected with a common current. The structure discussed above can reduce torque ripples, vibrations and noises, and a motor thus can be driven efficiently.

A motor driving device includes (a) a wide-angle feeding device for feeding power to three-phase coils in a width of 150 degrees in electrical angles and (b) a feeding amount controller for controlling a feeding amount to the coils. During overlapping periods, in which adjacent coils out of the three coils are in the same fed condition, an amount of a first value is fed to the coils and an amount of a second value is fed during the periods other than the overlapping periods. This structure allows the motor to reduce torque ripples, vibrations as well as noises during its operation, and at the same time, the motor can produce a greater output and operate at higher efficiency.

Motor driving device for motor having multi-phase coils

A motor driver includes a driving waveform generator simply constructed. Because the generator produces a waveform having rather small numbers of steps divided and voltage levels divided. Respective phase-driving signals responsive to a step-like voltage waveform produced by the generator are applied to a power feeder, so that an alternate current&mdash;shaping in a sine wave and changing sequentially&mdash;runs through respective phase-coils. Further, phase-advancing control realizes phase agreement between respective phase-currents and back electromotive force generated each of the respective phases. As a result, a motor can be driven efficiently with less torque ripples, vibrations and noises.

A step-motor-driving device includes (a) a step-motor having driving-windings in plurality of phases, (b) an exciter for supplying power to excite driving-windings, (c) a position detector for detecting a position of a mover of the motor and outputs a position-detecting-signal, and (d) an excitation-timing-controller for receiving a driving-instruction-signal and a position-detecting-signal, and outputs an exciting signal to the exciter responsive to an input of one of the driving-instruction-signal and the position-detecting-signal. The excitation-timing-controller outputs the exciting signal responding an input of the driving-instruction-signal when an excitation-switch of the driving-winding responsive to the driving-instruction-signal directs torque in a direction effective for the motor to rotate in a desirable direction, and the controller outputs the exciting signal responding an input of the position-detecting-signal when the excitation-switch of the driving-winding responsive to the driving-instruction-signal directs torque in an unfavorable direction for the motor to rotate in the desirable direction. This structure allows the step-motor-driving device to be free from jumping &ldquo;out of sync&rdquo;.

Step motor driving device

A motor control apparatus supplies a current to the motor according to the control either by an average current controller or by an instantaneous current controller. The selection of the controller is done by a switching command signal selector, which selects the average current controller when the position deviation is within a specified range, and selects the instantaneous current controller when the position deviation is outside this specified range.

Motor control apparatus

A motor driving power supplying section obtains an output voltage by switching-controlling a predetermined voltage outputted from a main power supply and smoothing a voltage thus switching-controlled. A driving transistor group includes a plurality of driving transistors, for supplying electric power based on the output voltage of the motor driving power supplying section to the motor driving coils of multiple phases. A commutation control section supplies conduction switching signals to the driving transistor group so as to switch successive conduction states of the motor driving coils. An output control section controls the output voltage of the motor driving power supplying section so that a collector-emitter voltage of at least one of the plurality of driving transistors included in the driving transistor group has a predetermined value. A torque control section controls conduction current intensity to the motor driving coils by controlling output currents of the plurality of driving transistors included in the driving transistor group.

Control device for a brushless motor

A PWM inverter output circuit enabling circuit integration, having a fast response characteristic, and unaffected by dv/dt transients is provided. A predrive circuit 17 drives a power circuit 11 comprising first and second power elements P1 and P2 by controlling the gate and source potential of the power elements P1 and P2 based on a stored control state. The control state is detected from a logic signal output from an input signal processor 13, which converts a command signal instructing turning on and off the power elements P1 and P2 to predetermined logic signals. Operating power is drawn from a main dc power source V1, a control power source V2, and a power supply capacitor C1 that is charged using an output voltage from the control power source V2. The gates and sources of the power elements P1 and P2 are connected together.

PWM inverter with zero dead time and initial power supply capacitor

A protection apparatus used in a brushless motor is arranged by a brushless motor; a commutation signal detecting unit for detecting a position of a movable member of the brushless motor; a speed detecting unit for detecting a rotation speed of the movable member of the brushless motor, involving a rotation direction thereof, in response to the detection signal outputted from the commutation signal detecting unit; and a drive circuit for producing a commutation signal used to drive the movable member of the brushless motor in response to the detection signal outputted from the commutation signal detecting unit and for driving the brushless motor based upon the commutation signal. The protection apparatus is further constructed of an output voltage instructing unit for supplying to the drive circuit, an output voltage instruction signal for instructing an output voltage of the drive circuit, which constitutes a drive voltage when the brushless motor is driven; a voltage limit level setting unit for setting an upper limit value of the output voltage of the drive circuit; and a voltage limiter unit for limiting the output signal of the output voltage instructing unit based on the setting value of the voltage limit level setting unit to thereby limit an upper limit value of the output voltage of the drive circuit.
