An object fitting/removing drive unit capable of fitting objects to each other, even if there is not enough working space in a fitting/removing direction of one object. Operation members holding cable connectors are accommodated in an inner frame in a manner movable in the fitting/removing direction. The inner frame is movably supported by outer frames along a direction orthogonal to the fitting/removing direction between initial and fitting-completed positions. A coupling member engaged with header connectors is movably supported by the outer frames along a direction orthogonal to the fitting/removing direction. When the inner frame is moved from the initial position to the fitting-completed position by being pressed by the coupling member, the outer frames guide the operation members toward the header connectors to fit the cable connectors and the header connectors to each other. A drive force transferring unit transfers driving force in the orthogonal direction.

An object fitting/removing drive unit which is capable of enhancing accuracy of positioning and fitting of objects to be connected. To determine a position of a header connector on an imaginary plane which is orthogonal to a fitting/removing direction of a cable connector, cutouts which are fitted in flanges to position the flanges are formed in an inner frame.

A cable connectorincludes a cover insulator adapted to clamp a cable. The cable has an end portion bent by a bending angle &#x3b1;. The cover insulator is coupled to a base insulator. The base insulator holds a terminal having an end portion bent by a bending angle &#x3b2;. Herein, the angles &#x3b1; and &#x3b2; satisfy the relationship given by &#x3b2;&#x3c;&#x3c0;&#x2212;&#x3b1; (rad) so that the end portion of the cable is pressed by the end portion of the terminal.

Having conductive contacts (), a first insulator () retaining the contacts, and a cable-side insulator, attachable/detachable relative to the first insulator, for retaining a flat cable (). The cable-side insulator includes a second insulator () for receiving the flat cable, a third insulator () disposed so as to confront the second insulator via the flat cable, and a clamp () interposed between the flat cable and the third insulator. When the cable-side insulator is mounted to the first insulator, the second and third insulators are engaged with the first insulator to approach each other so that the flat cable is sandwiched between the clamp and the second insulator. In this state, the flat cable is connected to the contacts.

In a cable connector used for connecting cables () having a plurality of wires, cable-side insulators () each arraying and retaining the wires in one plane are made attachable/detachable relative to a base insulator () retaining contacts. The cable-side insulators connect the wires to the contacts when attached to the base insulator. The base insulator has a pair of base guide portions () extending while confronting each other. The cable-side insulators each have a pair of cover guide portions () of which movement is guided by the base guide portions. At least either of the base guide portions and the cover guide portions have projection portions that bring both of them mutually into a press-fitted relation in a cable connected state.
