An image processing apparatus includes a first spectrum estimating unit for reading the image information from a storage unit and estimating a spectrum of an object based on the read image information; a dye amount estimating unit for estimating dye amounts included in the object using the estimated spectrum; a second spectrum estimating unit for synthesizing a first spectrum using the estimated dye amounts; a spectrum subtractor for calculating a difference spectrum by subtracting the first spectrum from the spectrum; a dye amount correcting unit for correcting at least a part of the estimated dye amounts; a third spectrum estimating unit for synthesizing a second spectrum using the corrected dye amount; a spectrum adder for synthesizing a third spectrum by adding the second spectrum and the difference spectrum; and an image synthesizer for synthesizing a display image from the third spectrum.

Image processing apparatus and image processing method

A multi-spectral camera is provided which includes an image pickup optical system which forms an image of a subject. A wavelength selecting device receives light beams from the image pickup optical system and outputs a light beam having a selected wavelength. A wavelength switching device selectively switches the selected wavelength of the wavelength selecting device. An image pickup element receives the light beam output from the wavelength selecting device and outputs image data. A spectroscope receives the light beams from the image pickup optical system and outputs spectral data. And a subject characteristic calculating unit calculates a spectral data characteristic of the subject from the spectral data output from the spectroscope.

A display apparatus includes a color image projection unit and a screen. The color image projection unit includes a converter which receives image signals of three primary colors, and converts the received image signals of three primary colors into image signals of four or more primary colors, and a color image projector which includes a plurality of image projection devices having respective primary colors, and which receives the image signals of four or more primary colors, and projects the received image signals of four or more primary colors onto the screen. In a color reproduction device, an input profile that is referenced in converting an input image from an image input device into a device-independent color image is created based on image input device information, shooting- and observation-time lighting data, and subject data, allowing accurate conversion of the input image to the device-independent color image. In reproducing the image by an image output device, the spectral reflectance of the subject itself is calculated from image input device information and shooting-time lighting data, thereby reducing the effect of the shooting-time lighting. The colors of the subject under observation lighting are calculated from observation-time lighting data. A color reproduced image is estimated accurately on the basis of the subject data even if the input image has little information.

A color reproduction system includes a color image display unit capable of displaying a color image of four or more primary colors, and a color converting unit for converting input three-primary color signals into color image signals of respective primary colors of the color image display unit. The color converting unit includes an area deciding section that decides a color conversion area to which the input three-primary color signals belong in a three-dimensional color space, and a color image signal calculating section that converts the input three primary color signals into color image signals of respective primary colors based on color conversion parameters corresponding to a color conversion area decided by the area deciding section.

A display tilt adjusting apparatus which may be employed in an electronic terminal device such as an electronic cash register is provided. The apparatus includes a pivotal support member, a stay, and a stay holding mechanism. The pivotal support member supports a display unit pivotably. The stay is connected to the display unit. The stay holding mechanism holds the stay to keep a display surface of the display unit at a set angular position. The stay holding mechanism is designed to produce a given degree of resistance to movement of the stay in a direction in which the display surface tilts rearward and keeps the stay free from the resistance in response to movement of the stay in an opposite direction in which the display surface tilts frontward.

A protective sheet mount structure for a display is provided which may be employed in electronic cash registers, for example. The structure includes a frame mount formed on a frame of a display around an opening through which a display screen is exposed, a protective sheet covering the display screen, and a sheet mount frame fitted in the frame mount detachably to retain the protective sheet on the frame of the display.
