A light unit is combined with circuitry which monitors the charge level of a battery of the light unit or a video camera or camcorder connected to the light unit. With two lights of different wattages, three different constant loads can be applied while observing, in each case, LED indicators each deenergized at a certain voltage level, resulting in an accurate and reliable indication of charge level. The voltage levels are selectable in accordance with the type of battery being monitored and a bridge rectifier allows reversal of battery polarity.

Combination light unit and battery monitor device

Adapter modules are provided for use with different types of video cameras and associated battery packs to energize the cameras and also light units from the battery packs. Each module includes interconnection means for mating with those of the cameras and associated battery packs and each module includes electrical circuitry for applying proper operating voltages to the cameras and light units. The electrical circuitry includes a voltage converter circuit, which may be either a down-converter or an up-converter.

Energizing system for video cameras and lights using adapter modules

A video movie camera system includes a synchronizing arrangement which is switched between stable on and off conditions to control operation of both a light source and recording apparatus during desired time intervals. The system also automatically controls the effective beam angle of a light source in accordance with the adjusted focal length of a zoom lens.
