A drive unit for an electric vehicle is comprised of a motor, an inverter which supplies alternating current electric power to the motor, a speed reducer which is connected to the motor, and a cooling system which cools the motor, the inverter and the speed reducer. The speed reducer reduces a revolution speed of a mechanical output of the motor. The cooling system comprises a heat exchanger at which first refrigerant for receiving heat of at least one of the motor and the inverter receives heat of second refrigerant for receiving heat of at least one of the motor and the speed reducer.

Drive unit for electric vehicle

A shock absorber has a function of transmitting electric power between sprung and unsprung electrical components. The shock absorber includes a pair of conductive elements. The conductive elements are coupled electrically to each other. One of the conductive elements is attached to the rod of the shock absorber. The other conductive element is mounted within the tube.

An integrated drive motor unit which is integrally constituted of a motor, an inverter and a reducer differential unit arranged in a row, and a frame member. The reducer differential unit is connected to an output shaft of the motor, and distributes torque of the motor to a pair of axles, one of which passes through the inverter. The frame member constitutes a part of the motor and a part of the reducer differential unit, and has a portion surrounding the axle passing through the inverter. The inverter is disposed outside the frame member.

Motor control apparatus and motor control method

An SR motor includes a stator having a plurality of salient poles and a rotor having another plurality of salient poles. Windings are wound around the plurality of salient poles and magnetic fields are generated in the plurality of salient poles. The number of salient poles of the rotor is determined depending upon a number of the salient poles of the stator. A supply mode for supplying power from a power supply to the windings, a reflux mode for setting both terminals of the windings to an identical potential, and a regenerative mode for recovering an electromotive force generated in the windings into the power supply are executed as the rotor rotates. The reflux mode and the regenerative mode are preferably repeated in a period during which the inductance of the windings is reduced as the rotor rotates.

SR motor controlling method and SR motor having low peak of current flowing therein

An electromechanical brake system for a vehicle has a brake actuator installed to each wheel of the vehicle and a controller for controlling an operation of each brake actuator. The brake actuator is constituted to clamp a disc rotor by a pair of brake pads through a rotational motion converting mechanism according to an operation of the motor. The rotational motion converting mechanism is constituted by a screw shaft integrally connected to a rotation shaft of the motor and a ball screw screwed with the screw shaft and integrally connected to one of the pair of brake pads. When the vehicle is put in a stopping state, the controller drives the motor so that an ordinary use region of the screw shaft, which is contacted with balls of the ball nut during a brake operation, is faced with a lubricant hole formed at an end portion of the ball nut.

Electromechanical brake system

A disclosed auxiliary brake apparatus of a hybrid automobile includes a braking detector for detecting an operation of braking the hybrid automobile, an auxiliary brake electric motor capable of braking the hybrid automobile, and an auxiliary brake controller capable of controlling the auxiliary brake electric motor. The auxiliary brake controller controls the auxiliary brake electric motor to generate a counter torque in the auxiliary brake electric motor to thereby brake the hybrid automobile in accordance with the operation of braking the hybrid automobile detected by the braking detector when the controller determines that a failure occurs to the electric powered brake of the hybrid automobile.

Auxiliary brake apparatus of hybrid automobile

A brake pressure is controlled with the left and right front wheels of a vehicle as one group, and the left and right rear wheels as another group. Alternatively, the right front wheel and left rear wheel form one group, and the left front wheel and right rear wheel form another group. Brake pressure is supplied individually to these groups by a first actuator group comprising one or more actuators and a second actuator group comprising one or more actuators. When a fault occurs in an actuator in the first actuator group, the first actuator group is controlled so as not to generate brake pressure, and when a fault occurs in an actuator in the second actuator group, the second actuator group is controlled so as not to generate brake pressure. In this way, unbalance of braking force on the left and right wheels due to a fault in an actuator is prevented, and turning of the vehicle due to this unbalance is suppressed.

Vehicle brake controller

A speed ratio of a continuously variable transmission is varied according to an oil pressure which is adjusted by a valve driven by a step motor. The step motor is feedback controlled so that a real speed ratio coincides with a target speed ratio determined according to the running conditions of a vehicle. By determining a feedback gain based on the oil pressure, oil temperature, real speed ratio and output shaft rotation speed of the transmission, precise control of the speed ratio according to the running state is realized.

Continuously variable transmission, and controller and control method

A brake control system is comprised of a vehicle environment recognition device for obtaining vehicle environment including a road condition, an actuator for applying hydraulic pressure set at a target value to each wheel cylinder, and a controller for calculating the target value on the basis of the vehicle environment. The controller controls the wheel cylinder pressure by driving the actuator so as to adjusting the wheel cylinder pressure at the target value. Therefore, it becomes possible to ensure the same braking distance by the same depression degree of the brake even in various road conditions.

Brake control system for vehicle

A first and a second power roller supported by trunnions are gripped between an input disc and an output disc disposed on an identical rotation axis. The gyration angles of the power rollers are varied by driving the trunnions in a direction perpendicular to the rotation axis by an oil pressure actuator. The oil pressure of the actuator is controlled based on a target gyration angle, and the gyration angle of the first power roller is fed back to the oil pressure control. Vibration of the first power roller due to external disturbance is prevented from affecting the second power roller via oil pressure control by making a force according to a displacement of the first power roller in the direction perpendicular to the rotation axis, act only on the trunnion supporting the first power roller.

Toroidal type continuously variable transmission

An anti-lock braking system (ABS) pressure modulator is provided. The modulator includes a frame with a bore fluidly exposed to master cylinder and wheel cylinder connections and a check valve for preventing fluid communication from the master cylinder connection to the wheel cylinder connection vi the bore. A piston is slidably mounted within the bore and has a predetermined extreme position at which a stem of the piston opens the check valve. A power device is actuated by an ABS controller. A cam, moved by the power device, has a cam surface. The position of the piston is determined by the cam. A cam follower roller is connected with the piston to in contact with the cam surface. A one-way brake prevents rotation of the roller when the cam moves in one rotational direction to allow the piston to move away from the predetermined extreme position, but allowing the roller to roll over the cam surface when the cam moves in the opposite direction to move the piston toward the predetermined extreme position.

Cam actuated anti-lock braking system modulator

A pressure control actuator suitable for an automotive brake control system comprises a pressure-regulation cylinder slidably enclosing a piston and cooperative with the piston for defining therein a variable-volume pressure chamber which is fluidly connected to a wheel cylinder, a shut-off valve through which the variable-volume chamber is connected to a master cylinder, a motor-driven thrust generator drivingly connected to the piston for producing a thrust, and a heavily pre-loaded return spring for biasing the piston in a first direction opposite to a second direction in which the piston is pushed by the master-cylinder pressure shut-up in the chamber, when the piston is displaced apart from its neutral position in the second direction so that the volume of the chamber is enlarged. A pre-load of the spring is set to balance with a force acting on the piston by a maximum master-cylinder pressure introduced into the chamber. In the absence of thrust acting on the piston after termination of the ABS pressure-reduction control, the piston quickly and precisely returns to the neutral position. Zero-thrust ensures a quick recovery of the piston to the neutral position at the aid of light braking action after termination of the TCS pressure-intensifying control.

Pressure control actuator for a brake control system

A hydraulic brake actuator for use in an automobile brake system which includes a master cylinder to be operated by a driver and a wheel cylinder connected to the master cylinder through a hydraulic circuit for applying a braking force to a wheel. The actuator is capable of performing anti-skid control function and/or traction control function, and includes a control cylinder device having a chamber which is connected to the wheel cylinder and adapted to be selectively connected to the master cylinder and disconnected therefrom. A piston is axially displaceably accommodated in the chamber for changing the volume of the chamber. A valve device has inlet and outlet ports connected to the master cylinder and the chamber, respectively, and is operatively connected to the piston so as to be opened or closed in response to the displacement of the piston.

Hydraulic brake actuator

A piezo-actuator's displacement magnifying mechanism includes a first cylinder and a second cylinder which is smaller in diameter than the first cylinder and communicates with the same. A plunger is slidably mounted in the first cylinder. The plunger is moved by a piezo-actuator in the first cylinder when a predetermined voltage is applied to the piezo-actuator to cause the same to expand and contract. A piston is slidably mounted in the second cylinder. A reservoir is communicating with the first cylinder. A hydraulic fluid is received in the first and the second cylinder and the reservoir. The hydraulic fluid is variable in viscosity in response to electric fields to which the fluid is subjected. A fluid passage is provided between the first cylinder and the reservoir for compensating for thermal expansion/contraction of the fluid. An electrode is provided for subjecting the hydraulic fluid to electric fields in the passage according to an instruction for applying the voltage to the piezo-actuator.
