An image processing apparatus having various interrupt-handling capabilities when image formation is interrupted. In one aspect, image formation is interrupted after completion of a predetermined number of image formations when the size of a recording material is indicated as a first size, and image formation is interrupted after a completion of a predetermined number of image formations when a recording material is indicated as a second size. In another aspect, a condition for image formation is selected whereby in the case the selected condition is prevented (e.g., recording on wrong-sized paper), the condition is stored, and after the image formation has commenced, a stop command is inhibited and stored. In another aspect, data concerning image information is entered, the entered data is displayed, and images are formed sequentially in accordance with the data whereby the formation of the images may be interrupted and the remaining number of image formations may be stored and displayed. It is also possible to interrupt the image formation for a predetermined image formation count without entry by the operator.

Image forming apparatus with image forming interruption capabilities

This invention relates to a copying apparatus with variable magnification capability, wherein the reduced and enlarged copying operations are achieved by varying the speed of a photosensitive drum, while controlling an optical system. The size of a copying material is compared with the size of a reproduced image at a selected magnification, and the comparison is displayed. Also, the size of copy material and the selected magnification can be changed during an interrupt process, and the scanning stroke and timing for image formation are controlled differently for different magnifications. Variable magnification copying apparatus and automatic shutdown therefor

A copying apparatus for optically reading images on the same or different originals and copying them into an arbitrary copy area on a copy paper has an area designating function and includes an image area designating apparatus to designate an arbitrary area on the original; a multiple transfer apparatus to multiple transfer the images in a plurality of image areas designated by the image area designating apparatus; a copy area designating apparatus to designate an arbitrary area on the copy paper and to copy the images in the image areas into the copy area designated; and a color designating apparatus to respectively designate the colors for a plurality of image areas designated by the image area designating apparatus. The images in the image areas are multiple transferred into the copy area by the multiple transfer apparatus on the basis of the designated colors.

An image forming apparatus includes a developing unit storage device including a plurality of storage sections capable of storing developing units and a first detection unit for detecting the presence/absence and types of the developing units in the plurality of storage sections, an image forming device which includes a second detection unit for detecting the presence/absence and a type of a developing unit in the image forming device, and can form an image on a recording material using the developing unit conveyed from the developing unit storage device, a communication device for causing the developing unit storage device and the image forming device to exchange data associated with the presence/absence and types of the developing units, a first display device for displaying the presence/absence and types of the developing units on the basis of a detection result by the first detection unit and the data transmitted from the image forming device by the communication device, and a second display device for displaying the presence/absence and types of the developing units on the basis of a detection result by the second detection unit and the data transmitted from the developing unit storage device by the communication device.

Image forming apparatus

An image reproducing apparatus with or without an ADF has an optical system for scanning an original, a developing unit, a fixing unit, a differential amplifier, and a microcomputer. Original image density can be measured properly in any mode of the apparatus. The image is reproduced to have optimal density by a lamp control voltage from the differential amplifier. Toner deficiency or the like can be indicated with a few number or displays and/or indicators. Upon detection of toner deficiency or the like, the current copying cycle is completed first and the apparatus is stopped. The copying operation can be resumed after the toner deficiency or the like is eliminated.

There is disclosed an image forming apparatus capable of superposing two deesired images, by erasing a part of a latent image with light-emitting elements and forming another image with same light-emitting elements.

There is provided a motor control device comprising a motor; an apparatus for entering the number of revolutions of the motor; a detector that detects the number of revolutions of the motor; and a microcomputer for entering the output from the detector and a controlling the motor according to predetermined programs, wherein the microcomputer comprises a counter to which a count value is set according to a circuit from the input to form a reference frequency signal and a circuit for forming a phase error signal according to the reference frequency signal and the output of the detector and outputs a signal for driving the motor based on the phase error signal.

There is disclosed an image forming apparatus capable of controlling the image forming conditions in different modes according to the magnification of the image to be formed, or according to the process speed.

There is a multi-color copying apparatus having image processing functions which can easily designate arbitrary areas when the trimming or masking is executed. This apparatus comprises: an area designating device to designate the first area of the original; a first developing device to develop the image of the first area in the first color; a second developing device to develop the image of the second area in the second color; and a control circuit for making the first developing device operative without making the second developing device operative in accordance with the designation of the first area and, after completion of the development of the image of the first area, making the second developing device operative without making the first developing device operative. The control circuit inhibits the operation of the first or second developing device by moving the first or second developing device to a position away from the photo sensitive drum, or by applying the bias voltage to the first or second developing device such that the toner from the inoperative developing device is not deposited onto the drum.

Copying apparatus

An image processing apparatus including a plurality of process devices for processing an image. A first control device is provided for controlling at least a first one of the plural process devices in accordance with a control program for an image process, and a second control device is provided for controlling at least a second one of the plural process devices in accordance with the control program. Furthermore, a reset device is provided for detecting a failure of the first and second control device in accordance with an output from one of the two control devices and for resetting both of those two devices.

An image forming apparatus in which copying operations are controlled according to a program sequence. The apparatus has an input unit for entering copying instructions and sequence signals, a control unit for controlling active loads in response to signals from the input unit, and logic circuits connected to the control unit for controlling the active loads. The input unit can be used to input a specific instruction signal to set a predetermined data value in a data memory of the control unit, to instruct that a portion of the control program be omitted to permit the apparatus to operate without actually producing an image. Alternatively, or in addition to such feature, the control unit may have a sequence control program which omits specific malfunction detection functions, that program being used to permit performance of a test operation of the apparatus without the need for actually consuming recording sheets or other materials in the test.

An electrophotographic apparatus capable of synthesizing two images with a cleaner boundary. Two images are synthesized by forming two images in respectively designated areas, and cleaner boundary is obtained by erasing any image in the boundary zone of these two images.

Electrophotographic apparatus for making superposed images

An image scanning apparatus has a reciprocating member for scanning a document, a first motor for driving the reciprocating member, a first detection circuit for detecting the speed of the first motor, a first control circuit associated with the detection circuit for rotating the motor at a speed to scan the document at a speed determined by a magnification factor, a recording medium, a second motor for driving the recording medium, a second detection circuit for detecting the speed of the second motor and a second control circuit associated with the second detection circuit for rotating the second motor at a speed determined by the magnification factor.

Image scanning apparatus

An analog copying apparatus for optically exposing an original and copying it onto an arbitrary copy area on a copy paper has an area designating function and comprises: an image area designating apparatus to designate an arbitrary area on the original; a copy area designating apparatus to designate an arbitrary area on the copy paper; and copying means for copying the image in the image area into the copy area. This copying apparatus further has: an original moving apparatus to move the original on an original plate; a lens moving apparatus to move a lens provided in the optical path in an arbitrary direction; a cassette moving apparatus to move a cassette in which the copy papers are enclosed; and a resist control apparatus to control the resist timing, wherein the image in the image area is copied onto the copy area by means of at least one of or a combination of a plurality of these apparatuses. A copy magnification may be calculated and set from the image area and copy area, and the image in the image area is copied onto the copy area on the basis of this magnification.
