A method for producing a honeycomb structure includes: a forming step of extruding a forming raw material containing a ceramic raw material mainly based on silicon carbide and metal silicon to obtain a honeycomb formed body, the honeycomb formed body comprising: an outer peripheral wall; and partition walls; a drying step of drying the honeycomb formed body to obtain a honeycomb dried body; and a firing step of firing the honeycomb dried body to obtain a honeycomb fired body. The drying step includes: a first drying step of subjecting the honeycomb formed body to dielectric drying at a frequency of from 2 to 200 MHz so that a moisture scattering rate of the honeycomb formed body after dielectric drying is from 30 to 85%; and a second drying step of subjecting the honeycomb formed body having the moisture scattering rate of from 30 to 85% to hot air drying.

Method for producing honeycomb structure and method for producing electrically heating support

A method for producing a conductive honeycomb structure includes: a forming step of extruding a forming raw material to obtain a honeycomb formed body; a drying step of drying the honeycomb formed body to obtain a honeycomb dried body; and a firing step of firing the honeycomb dried body to obtain a honeycomb fired body. The forming step includes controlling a volume fraction of a portion that can form pores of the honeycomb formed body so that an absolute value of a difference in the volume fraction of the portion that can form the pores in predetermined regions of the honeycomb formed body relative to a previously set, predetermined porosity of the honeycomb fired body is within 0.5%. The predetermined porosity is a porosity preset for each of the predetermined regions of the honeycomb fired body.

Method for producing conductive honeycomb structure and method for producing electrically heating support

To provide a heat exchanger that can control temperatures of fluids to be heat-exchanged. A heat exchangerincludes a honeycomb structure, a second fluid flow through portionlocated at an outer periphery side of the honeycomb structureserving as a flow passage for a second fluid, and a third fluid flow through portionlocated at an outer periphery side of the second fluid flow through portionserving as a flow passage for a third fluid. Cellsof the honeycomb structureserve as a first fluid flow through portionthrough which the first fluid passes. With the heat exchanger, the first fluid, the second fluid, and the third fluid can be heat-exchanged without being mixed with one another. Constituting the fluid flow passage with three flow passages allows controlling temperatures of two fluids to be heat-exchanged by the residual fluid.

A honeycomb structure of the present invention includes a honeycomb structure body and a pair of electrode member arranged at a side surface of the honeycomb structure body. The honeycomb structure body has an electrical resistivity of 1 to 200 &#x3a9;cm, and the respective pair of electrode members is formed into a band-like shape extending in a direction in which the cells extend. In a cross section perpendicular to the cell extending direction, one of the electrode members is arranged opposite to another of the electrode members sandwiching a center of the honeycomb structure body. One or more of slits, which being open to a side surface, are formed at the honeycomb structure body. At least the one slit is formed so as not to intersect with a straight line connecting center portions of the respective pair of electrode members in the cross section perpendicular to the cell extending direction.

A particulate matter detection device of the present invention includes a plate-like element base material, and a pair of measurement electrodes arranged in the element base material, each of the measurement electrodes is a combteeth-like electrode including a plurality of planarly arranged combteeth portions, and a comb spine portion which connects the plurality of combteeth portions of each of the measurement electrodes to one another at one end of each of the plurality of combteeth portions, the combteeth portions of the measurement electrodes are arranged to engage with each other with a space being left therebetween, and the comb spine portion of at least one of the measurement electrodes is covered with a comb spine covering portion made of a dielectric material.

Particulate matter detection device

A particulate matter detection device includes a plate-like element base material including, on one surface thereof, a formed recess portion to collect a particulate matter; a pair of measurement electrodes arranged on the bottom surface side of the recess portion of the element base material; and a high-voltage dust collection electrode embedded in a wall which forms the recess portion of the element base material on the one surface side of the element base material from a position where the pair of measurement electrodes are arranged. An electric field is generated from the high-voltage dust collection electrode to the pair of measurement electrodes, to collect, on the bottom surface side of the recess portion, the particulate matter flowing along the element base material, and a change of electric characteristics between the pair of measurement electrodes is measured to detect the particulate matter collected on the recess portion.

A PM sensor is provided having high responsiveness and capable of long term detection. A PM sensor includes a sensor element that has particulate collection electrodes to which a particulate collection voltage for causing particulate matter contained in exhaust to adhere to a sensor element is applied, and measurement electrodes to which a measurement voltage for measuring an electrical characteristic of the sensor element is applied, in which, after a particulate collection voltage is applied to the particulate collection electrodes application of the particulate collection voltage is stopped in response to a predetermined condition being satisfied, the measurement voltage is applied to the measurement electrodes and the electrical characteristic of the sensor element is measured.

A tubular structure for fixing a particulate matter detection device including a tubular first holding tube having a fixing structure portion at a first end; and a tubular second holding tube having one end fixed to a second end so that the second holding tube is coaxial with the first holding tube. The particulate matter detection device is prolonged in one direction and having a detecting portion for particulate matter, with a takeout portion of a wiring line disposed in the tubular structure so that the detecting portion projects to the outside from the first end and so that the takeout portion is positioned in the second holding tube, and with the particulate matter detection device fixed to a pipe by the fixing structure portion so that the detecting portion is positioned in the pipe.
