A method of molding pre-foamed synthetic resin particles is described, which comprises increasing the pressure in a mold cavity with a pressurized gas, charging the mold cavity with pre-foamed synthetic resin particles as they are compressed with a gas pressurized to a pressure higher than the pressure in the mold cavity and heating the charged pre-foamed synthetic resin particles with steam so that they are fused together or expanded and fused together to form a foamed molded article, wherein a pressure detector is provided in a conduit for conveying the pre-foamed synthetic resin particles into the mold cavity as they are carried by the pressurized gas or at an inlet portion of a charging port leading to the mold cavity, and the supply of pre-foamed synthetic resin particles into the mold cavity is stopped when the pressure detected by the detector exceeds the pressure in the mold cavity by a predetermined amount. A blow-filing gun apparatus suitable for use in the practice of the molding method is also described.

Method of preparing a foamed molded article and blow-filling gun

A method of producing a polypropylene resin molded product from foamed polypropylene particles is disclosed, which comprises introducing a pressurizing gas into foamed polypropylene particles having closed cells so that the particles have an internal gas pressure of from 0.3 to 2.5 Kg/cm.sup.2 G, charging the particles in a mold cavity while compressing the particles with a pressurizing inorganic gas until the initial apparent volume of the particles is reduced to 50 to 99%, removing the gas from the mold cavity while keeping the foamed particles in a compressed state, and introducing steam in the cavity to cause adhesion of the compressed foamed particles. The method produces a molded product having satisfactory appearance and excellent adhesion among particles in a shortened molding cycle.

Methods of producing molded products from foamed polypropylene particles

A process for producing propylene random copolymer resin foamed particles is disclosed. The process comprises dispersing propylene-ethylene random copolymer resin particles having an ethylene content of from 1 to 12% by weight in water in a closed vessel, feeding an inorganic gas into the closed vessel to raise the pressure within the closed vessel to at least 5 Kg/cm.sup.2 G, heating the dispersion to a temperature above the melting point of said copolymer resin particles but not higher than that by 25.degree. C. or more, opening a discharge port provided in the closed vessel below the water surface, and releasing the copolymer resin particles together with water as a dispersing medium into an atmosphere having a lower pressure than in the closed vessel. A foamed product produced by molding the foamed particles has firm bondage among the particles and excellent mechanical strength.
