A moving path memory stores a moving path of a train in advance. A signal receiver receives satellite positioning signals. A position calculator calculates measured positions and receiver clock errors, based on the satellite positioning signals and the moving path. A error area calculator sets vector pairs, each consisting of arbitrary two vectors perpendicular to each other on a plane spanned by a tangent vector and a radial vector of a tangent circle of the moving path at the measured positions, and calculates an error area for each vector pair, based on the measured positions, the receiver clock errors, and positions of positioning satellites. A position range extractor extracts a part of the moving path included in each error area, as a candidate position range corresponding to the error area. A position range restrictor determines a common area of the candidate position ranges, as a position range of the train.

A reflector apparatus includes reflectors, which respectively radiate reflected waves in predetermined polarization directions. A polarized wave information reading circuit fixed to a moving body radiates a radio wave toward the reflecting apparatus from a transmitting antenna, receives reflected waves from the reflecting apparatus, and generates a received level difference signal that corresponds to a polarization direction of the received reflected waves. A position calculating circuit calculates a position of the polarized wave information reading circuit based on the received level difference signal.

In a vehicle inclination detecting device, a receiving unit includes a switching unit for alternately switching between a received signal from a first receiving antenna and a received signal from a second receiving antenna to alternately output the received signals to an orthogonal detector. In a sliding door apparatus, a first entrance is opened and closed by a first door, and a second entrance that faces the first entrance is opened and closed by a second door. Imaging means that captures images across a space between the first entrance and the second entrance is disposed beside the space. An image processing and determining portion determines presence or absence of an obstruction inside the space based on image data from the imaging means.

Sliding door apparatus and elevator including an obstruction detection system

In an elevator apparatus, a pulley is provided in a hoistway. A rope that moves together with the movement of a car is wound around the pulley. Further, the pulley is provided with a pulley sensor for generating a signal according to the rotation of the pulley. The car is provided with a car speed sensor for directly detecting the speed of the car. A control panel is provided with: a first speed detecting portion for obtaining the speed of the car based on information from the pulley sensor; a second car speed detecting portion for obtaining the speed of the car based on information from the car speed sensor; and a determination portion for determining the presence/absence of slippage between the rope and the pulley by comparing the speeds of the car as respectively obtained by the first and second speed detecting portions.

Elevator rope slip detector and elevator system

In an elevator apparatus, a guide rail has a plurality of unit rails that are vertically connected to each other. A car is provided with a rail joint detecting device mounted on the car, for detecting the presence/absence of a joint between each of the unit rails. The rail joint detecting device has a joint detecting portion for optically detecting the presence of the joint; and a joint determining portion for determining the presence/absence of the joint based on information from the joint detecting portion. Information on the presence/absence of the joint is outputted from the joint determining portion to a car position correcting circuit. In the car position correcting circuit, information on the position of the car is corrected based on the information on the presence/absence of the joint.

Elevator rail joint detector and elevator system

In an elevator apparatus, a pulley is provided in a hoistway. A rope that moves together with the movement of a car is wound around the pulley. Further, the pulley is provided with a pulley sensor for generating a signal according to the rotation of the pulley. A rope sensor for measuring the movement speed of the rope is provided in the hoistway. A control panel is provided with: a first speed detecting portion for obtaining the speed of the car based on information from the pulley sensor; a second speed detecting portion for obtaining the speed of the car based on information from the rope sensor; and a determination portion for determining the presence/absence of slippage between the rope and the pulley by comparing the speeds of the car as respectively obtained by the first and second speed detecting portions.

An identity verification apparatus includes a light source for applying light that can pass through an object to be detected and having a fingerprints to the object to be detected, an image pickup unit for picking up light emitted from the light source and passing through projections of the fingerprint and light emitted from the light source and passing through depressions of the fingerprint, and for generating a fingerprint image including dark portions corresponding to the projections and bright portions corresponding to the depressions, and a signal processing unit for image processing the fingerprint image generated by the image pickup unit to generate fingerprint information, and for verifying an identity based on the fingerprint information.

Identity verification apparatus and fingerprint image pickup method

A fingerprint image pickup device includes a light source that emits a light for transmission through a fingertip portion having a fingerprint to be photographed, an image pickup unit that picks up the light from the light source and transmitted through the subject to acquire a fingerprint image in which convex and concave parts of the fingerprint are dark and bright, respectively, and an optical system that images the light transmitted through the fingertip portion on the image pickup unit. The optical system is arranged so that a distal side of the fingertip portion is tilted, at a predetermined angle, farther away from the optical system than an opposite side, with reference to a position at which a ventral side of the fingertip portion contacts a face orthogonal to an optical axis of the optical system.

An optical distance sensor includes a first substrate provided with a light emitting element and a light detecting element, a one-piece optical structure body on a second substrate, the optical structure body having optical elements for converging incident light in a direction parallel to a surface of the second substrate and for converging an outgoing light beam from the light emitting element and a light beam reflected by an object in the direction parallel to the surface of the second substrate, and lenses for converging incident light in a direction perpendicular to the surface of the second substrate and for converging the outgoing light beam from the light emitting element and the light beam reflected by the object in the direction perpendicular to the surface of the second substrate, respectively.

A sliding door system has a pair of horizontally opposed vertical surfaces defining therebetween an opening, an upper horizontal surface connecting uppermost ends of the vertical surfaces, a lower horizontal surface connecting lowermost ends of the vertical surfaces, and a door moving horizontally to open and close the opening. The sliding door system also includes a first optical device having a light emitter for emitting light, a second optical device having a light detector for detecting the light, and a light reflector for reflecting the light emitted from the light emitter to the light receiver. The light reflector is positioned in at least one of the horizontally opposed vertical surfaces. The first and second optical devices are positioned in the upper horizontal surface.

Sensor head

An irregular pattern detector includes a first optical system, a transparent light guide body and a second optical system. The first optical system has a light source. The transparent light guide body has an incident face receiving incident light from the light source of the first optical system, a detection face facing the incident face for placing of a subject having an irregular pattern, a curved surface reflecting scattered light from the detection face, an optical absorbing face facing the curved surface and having an opening outputting light reflected from the curved surface. The second optical system, such as an imaging lens, guides the light from the opening of the optical absorbing face of the transparent light guide body to a camera device. This irregular pattern detector can be scaled down, and can produced precise images without any deformation.

An elevator system has a pair of horizontally opposed vertical surfaces defining therebetween a doorway or opening to an elevator cage and a door moving horizontally to open and close the opening. In particular, the system has a first optical device having a light emitter for emitting light and a second optical device having a light receiver for receiving the light emitted from the light emitter. The first and second optical devices are positioned in a vertical plane crossing the opening and adjacent to the opening. One of the first and second optical devices is positioned below the other of the first and second optical devices and mounted in the vertical surface.
