A transformed metal oxide sol, according to the present invention, has as main components: a hydrolysis product of a surface-active silane coupling agent, a transformed metal oxide sol which has been transformed by means of a hydrolysis product of a surface-active silane coupling agent, or a mixture and/or a condensate of the hydrolysis product of the surface-active silane coupling agent and the transformed metal oxide sol which has been transformed by means of the hydrolysis product of the surface-active silane coupling agent; and a mixture of transformed metal oxide sols which have been transformed by means of sulfur-containing functional groups, wherein a raw metal oxide sol of the transformed metal oxide sol is preferably an organosilica sol.

Anti-fogging agent

Disclosed is a modified metal oxide sol that has a large hydrophilizing effect and antistatic effect, can be produced at low cost and is capable of being a coating. Specifically disclosed is a modified metal oxide sol characterized by modification by a functional group represented by formula (1) at 0.55-5.5 mmol per 1 g of metal oxide sol. MOS(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;R&#x2014;Si(CH)(&#x2014;O&#x2014;)(1) {In the formula, M is a hydrogen ion, Calkyl group, metal ion or ammonium (NR) group; Ris a Calkylene group (may have urethane bonds or urea bonds in the main alkylene chain); Rmay be the same or different and is a Calkyl group or a hydrogen atom; and n represents 0 or 1}.

Modified metal oxide sol

The present invention provides a functional filler which is excellent in dispersibility or interaction with polylactic acid as a matrix polymer and can improve heat resistance, moldability and mechanical strength of the polylactic acid; and a resin composition containing the functional filler. The functional filler of the present invention is characterized in including a raw material filler and polylactic acid, wherein a surface or end the raw material filler is modified by the polylactic acid.

This invention is directed to reduce the viscosity of a naphthalene type mixed liquid crystal and to improve display quality while maintaining a bookshelf layer structure. The ferroelectric liquid crystal composition of the present invention comprises 70 to 97 parts by weight of a naphthalene base mixed liquid crystal and 3 to 30 parts by weight of a predetermined tolan type liquid crystal.

Liquid crystal compounds and compositions

A secondary battery or cell with improved rechargeability is obtained by combination of (A) a cathode active material comprising a chalcogen compound of a transition metal, (B) an electrolyte comprising an organic solvent having dissolved therein a lithium salt and (C) an anode active material comprising lithium metal in electrical contact with an electrically conductive carbonaceous material which is a pyrolysis residue of an organic material such as synthetic high polymers. The anode active material can be formed in situ within the battery, by self discharge of lithium metal into the carbonaceous material. The battery or cell is of excellent properties, such as stability or flatness of discharge voltage and electric capacity.
