A vehicle control apparatus for a vehicle includes a catalyst deterioration diagnosing unit, an engine controlling unit, and a diagnosis start determining unit. The catalyst deterioration diagnosing unit executes a deterioration diagnosis of a catalyst included in an exhaust system of an engine provided in the vehicle. The engine controlling unit controls an air-fuel ratio of the engine to a lean side and thereafter to a rich side during the deterioration diagnosis of the catalyst. The diagnosis start determining unit prohibits the deterioration diagnosis of the catalyst from being executed when a deceleration rate upon deceleration of the vehicle is high, and permits the deterioration diagnosis of the catalyst to be executed when the deceleration rate upon deceleration of the vehicle is low.

A diagnostic apparatus includes a fuel tank; a canister adsorbing evaporative fuel; an upstream purge line allowing the canister and an engine intake system to communicate upstream of a pressure charger; an upstream purge valve that opens and closes the upstream purge line; a pressure detector detecting pressure in the upstream purge line; a valve controller that opens and closes the upstream purge valve during pressure-charging and non-pressure-charging; a timekeeper measuring an accumulative time in which a diagnosis execution condition is satisfied after a purge-flow diagnosis starts; and a determiner determining whether evaporative fuel processing system operates normally or abnormally depending on whether the pressure decreases by a predetermined pressure or more from the start of the diagnosis. A pressure sensor malfunction determination device for a fuel tank includes a fuel tank that stores fuel, a canister that absorbs an evaporated fuel gas and includes a drain port opened to atmosphere, an evaporation path communicating with the canister and fuel tank, a purge gas path communicating with an engine inlet system and the canister, a pressure sensor that detects a pressure, a solenoid valve that opens/closes the evaporation path, and a control unit that controls an opening/closing state of the solenoid valve. When the fuel tank pressure is one of predetermined positive and negative pressure states, the control unit performs valve-opening control on the solenoid valve. The control unit includes a pressure sensor malfunction determination unit that, when an output value of the pressure sensor detected under an atmospheric pressure condition corresponds to a pressure other than the atmospheric pressure, determines that the pressure sensor is malfunctioning.

A purge system malfunction diagnosis device is configured to diagnose a malfunction in a purge system mounted on a vehicle. The purge system includes a canister, a purge passage, a purge valve capable of opening and closing the purge passage, an outside air passage configured to cause the canister to communicate with an outside air opening, an outside air valve capable of opening and closing the outside air passage, and a system pressure sensor configured to detect a pressure in the purge system. In the diagnosis mode, a parameter to be used for diagnosing a malfunction in the purge system is adjusted in a case where the flow rate estimate is lower than a flow rate threshold.
