3-position actuator

An automatic transmission having a turbine, a pump, a first stator and a second stator and a speed changer having a planetary gear train composed of first and second planetary gears sharing one planetary carrier in common and a clutch or brake for controlling the planetary gear train. The turbine of the torque converter is coupled to a turbine shaft which transmits power from the turbine to the speed changer. A first stator is provided at a turbine side between the turbine and the pump, the first stator being coupled to a first stator shaft for transmitting power from the first stator to the speed changer a one-way clutch. A second stator is provided at a pump side between the turbine and the pump. The second stator is connected to a housing though a second stator shaft having a one-way clutch for transmitting power in a direction reverse to the rotation direction of the pump. A clutch or brake for controlling rotation speed of the first stator shaft is provided in the course of the first stator shaft. A first sun gear meshing with the first planetary gear of the speed changer is fixed to an end portion of the turbine shaft. A second sun gear meshing with the second planetary gear of the speed changer is fixed to an end portion of the first stator shaft. A brake is provided at a clutch cover side of the clutch.

Automatic transmission

In an automatic transmission incorporating a planetary gear transmission at a rear stage of a four-element torque converter comprising two stators, a turbine and a pump; a planetary gear train of an automatic transmission, wherein a reversal torque of a first stator reversing in a low speed ratio zone is converted into a normal torque by the planetary gear train so that this output from the first stator can be added to an output shaft, when a first speed of the planetary gear transmission is selected; a friction element is provided for limiting a rotation of the first stator in the speed ratio zone where the first stator rotates in the reverse direction, a one-way clutch for transmitting a torque only in a specified direction is installed, and the first stator is permitted to run idle by this one-way clutch so that a fluid loss in a stator portion can be minimized, when a second speed of the planetary gear transmission is selected.

Planetary gear train for automatic transmission

A lock-up device for a torque converter, in which a piston actuated by hydraulic force and a lock-up damper are disposed between a front cover and a turbine wheel of the torque converter, a pressing force of the piston causes both friction surfaces of a friction plate of the lock-up damper to press on a friction plate of the front cover, and plural hydraulic chambers are provided by forming a pressure surface of the piston into a multiple-stage structure. A hydraulic chamber located at the most inner peripheral side is connected to a passage of hydraulic oil. The plural hydraulic chambers are connected with each other through fine clearances. A pressure area of the piston in the most inner peripheral side hydraulic chamber is set to a size which does not permit the piston to press on the front cover side friction plate under a state where the hydraulic oil is filled only in the most inner hydraulic chamber.

Lock-up device for torque converter

A power transfer device for a vehicle comprises a power input part; an intermediate gear mechanism having an intermediate input gear and an intermediate output gear meshing together; a first gear meshing with the intermediate input gear; a first shaft connected to the first gear; a second output part adapted to be connected to the intermediate output gear; a second shaft connected to the second output part; a first auxiliary output part connected to the first shaft; a dog clutch adapted to be switched between a differential operation position in which the intermediate output gear is connected only to the second output part and a differential non-operation position in which the intermediate output gear is connected to both of the first auxiliary output part and the second output part; a lock gear mechanism connected to the intermediate gear mechanism; and a lock mechanism adapted to disengagably connect the lock gear mechanism to a stationary part.

Power transfer device

An electronic control circuit memorizes shift patterns of a 2-range and an L-range in addition to a shift pattern of a D-range. An operation switch changes a shift pattern of the electronic control circuit to any shift pattern among those of the D-range, 2-range and L-range when a manual shift lever is in a D-range position. A lock mechanism prevents the manual shift lever from entering a 2-range position and an L-range position. A lock mechanism is releasable. A hydraulic circuit is set to a third speed mode when the manual shift lever is in the D-range position, the circuit is set to a second speed mode when it is in the 2-range position, and the circuit is set to a first speed mode when it is in the L-range position, respectively, in case where the shift valves are not working.

Electronically controlled automatic transmission

A transmission having a two-stage torque converter with a turbine and two stators, a one-way clutch and a stator shaft, one of the stators being connected to the stator shaft through the one-way clutch. The reverse drive of the stator connected to the stator shaft through the one-way clutch is interconnected to and disconnected from the drive of the turbine through counter gear mounted on counter shafts selectively interconnected and selectively disconnected through clutches mounted on the counter shafts.

Power transmission with torque converter

An automatic transmission combining a stator reversing type torque converter and a speed changer having a planetary gear train composed of first and second planetary gears sharing one planetary carrier in common and a clutch or brake for controlling the planetary gear train, characterized by that a speed-increasing or speed-decreasing mechanism is installed in course of a shaft which transmits a power from said torque converter to a first sun gear or a second sun gear of the speed changer.

In a planetary gear transmission having a planetary gear train wherein first and second planetary gears meshing each other are carried by a common planetary carrier and the both planetary gears are meshed with separate sun gear and ring gear respectively; a planetary carrier for a planetary gear transmission, in which said planetary carrier is divided into two plate members facing each other, a boss carrying either of the both planetary gears is provided on one of the plate members, the two plate members are fastened together by the boss and a connection member which passes through the planetary gear carried by the boss, and bearing holes carrying the other planetary gear are made on the fastened plate members.

A parking device for an automatic transmission wherein a parking gear provided in a transmission for the automatic transmission comprising the transmission disposed at a rear stage of a torque converter is locked at the time of parking; characterized by that a leaf spring, which urges a locking arm apart from a parking gear when a driving mode is selected to a range other than P-range, is provided on a push rod moving the locking arm which locks the parking gear toward the parking gear; a pin serving as a fulcrum of the leaf spring is held to a housing of the transmission at a position where a spring force of said leaf spring functions so as to part the locking arm from the parking gear when the driving mode is selected to a range other than P-range; and the leaf spring is formed into such a shape that the leaf spring does not contact with the pin as the driving mode is shifted from R-range to P-range.

Parking device for automatic transmission

The disclosure describes a hydraulic power transmission comprising a torque converter of which a pump impeller is adapted to be connected to an output shaft of an engine; a fluid coupling of the pump impeller is adapted to be connected to the output shaft of the engine; an intermediate shaft is connected to a turbine runner of the torque converter; an output shaft is connected to a turbine runner of the fluid coupling; a one-way clutch connects the intermediate shaft to the output shaft and is operable to transmit the torque only fron the intermediate shaft to the output shaft; and a control mechanism for controlling the fluid coupling to operate only when the rotation speed of the output shaft exceeds a predetermined value.

Hydraulic power transmission

In an automatic transmission having a four-element two-stage torque converter and a planetary gear transmission which carries out a change-over operation of drive stage of plural planetary gear elements by hydraulically engaging and disengaging plural friction elements from the rear stage of the torque converter transmitting engine power by means of fluid; a drive stage control mechanism for automatic transmission, in which a piston carrying out the engagement and disengagement of the friction members by means of hydraulic force. The pressure surface of the piston is formed into plural concentric stepped surfaces. A pressure oil passage port interconnecting with a control valve for controlling charge and discharge of hydraulic pressure is provided at any one stage of the plural stepped surfaces. A passage leading the hydraulic pressure from such any one stage to another stage and having a throttling function is provided. An elastic member effecting a pressure force on a friction element when engaging the friction element is provided between the piston and the friction element.

Drive stage control mechanism for automatic transmission

The present disclosure describes a power distributing mechanism for a vehicle including rear wheels as driving wheels and front wheels as driving and steering wheels, comprising a drive shaft for the rear wheels; a shaft for the front wheels coaxially adjacent to the shaft for the rear wheels; a driving rotator having outer teeth and connected to the shaft for the rear wheels; a driven rotator having outer teeth and axially slidably connected to the shaft for the front wheels; a forcing mechanism for elastically forcing the driven rotator toward the driving rotator; a cylindrical intermediate member disposed around both rotators and having inner teeth engageable with the outer teeth of the respective rotators with circumferential spaces therebetween; and a braking mechanism for applying a braking force to the rotating intermediate member; said both rotators being provided at the end surface portions projections for disengaging the driven rotator.

Power distributing mechanism

A speed ratio detecting valve means of torque converter comprising a hub of a stator vane spline fitted onto a fixed shaft and being freely rotatable through a prescribed play angle, the hub being permitted to rotate relative to the fixed shaft by said play angle at a prescribed speed ratio utilizing a phenomenon that the direction of force of a working fluid in the torque converter exerted on the stator vane is reversed when an input-output rotation speed ratio reaches said prescribed value, and causing a fluid passage opening through a fixed shaft inside to an outer periphery of the fixed shaft to joint with or shut off from its jointing part.
