A stator has a core, an insulating member that covers the core, windings that are wound around the insulating member, and conductive members that supply drive power to the windings. The conductive member has a joining part that contacts a lower surface of the insulating member, an insertion part that rises axially upward from one end of the joining part, and a board connection part that descends axially downward from the other end of the joining part. The insertion part penetrates through the insulating member and protrudes at the top of the stator, where it is connected to a coil end. The board connection part is fixed, by a method such as press-fitting, to a circuit board on which a Hall element or the like is mounted.

A motor comprises: a shaft; a permanent magnet rotor in which a permanent magnet and a gear memberare united; and a stator, arranged facing the permanent magnet. The gear memberhas a pinionand a mounting part. The mounting parthas: a circumferential-direction constraining part, which constrains the circumferential movement of the permanent magnet; axial-direction constraining parts, which abut both the top and bottom surfaces of the permanent magnet, so as to constrain the axial movement of the permanent magnet; and a plurality of elastic piecesthat apply a radially outward biasing force to the inner peripheral face of the permanent magnet.

A cover member has a through hole in the center. A rotary shaft protrudes upward from the through hole, without contact with the cover member. A first washer member, which is made from a hard material, is fastened to the rotary shaft, between the rotor case and the cover member. The first washer member is disposed without contact with the rotor case and the cover member.

Bearing device and brushless motor

The bottom end of a rotary shaft contacts a cover part of a cover member, while the top end of the rotary shaft protrudes upwards from a retaining plate. A planar first washer member, which is made from a hard material, is fastened to the rotary shaft, between a bottom plate of a rotor case and an oil-impregnated bearing. The first washer member is disposed without contact with the bottom plate of the rotor case and the oil-impregnated bearing.

A cover member has a cylinder in the center of a cover part. A second sliding bearing is fastened to the cylinder. A rotary shaft protrudes upward from the cylinder without contact with the second sliding bearing. A first sliding bearing is a main bearing, which can radially support the rotary shaft, and the second sliding bearing is an auxiliary bearing which, when the rotary shaft is subjected to a load from the radial direction, bears that load in the radial direction together with the first sliding bearing. When the angle of inclination of the rotary shaft in the first sliding bearing is not maximal, the rotary shaft is supported only by the first sliding bearing, without the rotary shaft contacting the inside of the second sliding bearing. The amount of deformation of the rotary shaft when a load is applied to the rotary shaft from the radial direction and the rotary shaft first makes contact with the second sliding bearing is in a range from 0 to the maximum elastic deformation.

A electrically insulating member, which covers a stator core, has a plurality of engagement claws, which extend in the axial direction of a rotary shaft, and a plurality of positioning projections, at positions in the circumferential direction differing from those of the engagement claws, which extend further than the engagement claws. A sensor board, on which a plurality of magnetic sensors are fixed in place, has engagement parts, which engage with the engagement claws, and positioning recesses, into which the positioning projections are inserted.

Brushless DC motor

In addition to a bearing holder being provided with an annular groove that opens down in the axial direction, an end cap is provided with an annular projection that extends up in the axial direction, and by way of press-fitting the projection into the groove, the fitted portion of the bearing holder and the end cap is forms an axially convex labyrinthine shape extending along the entire perimeter.

A spindle motor comprises a turntable, on which a disc is loaded, and a motor which rotates the turntable, wherein a top face plate of a magnetic body rotor case, which rotates united with a rotational shaft of the motor, serves as the turntable. A centering member that guides the inner edge of the disc so as to be concentric with the rotational shaft is disposed on the top face plate of the rotor case and a clamping magnet is disposed in a through-opening on the interior of the centering member and is in contact with the top face plate of the rotor case.

A cylindrical member is fixed to an upper portion of a rotary shaft and a clamper presses an optical disc in contact with the top of a turntable. The structure is such that a first bottom face of the cylindrical member that faces a clamping magnet in the axial direction is positioned below an opposite face of the clamper that faces the clamping magnet in the axial direction.

A simple configuration allows a rotor of a spindle motor to be eccentric in the pickup moving direction, and improves axial run-out caused by clearance between a rotating shaft and bearing. An arc shaped magnetic body is disposed on a base of a spindle motor opposite a drive magnet and in the same direction as the opposing face, thereby generating an attractive force on the outer periphery side of the rotor.

Spindle motor and disk drive unit

A simple construction causes a spindle motor rotor to be eccentric in a pickup moving direction and improves axial run-out caused by clearance between a rotating shaft and a bearing. A magnetic cap is attached to an end of a bearing of a spindle motor so as to cover an end face. A ceiling of the magnetic cap is an annular magnetic material in which a lid and opposing face protruding therefrom are continuous, and the opposing face works with an annular magnet attached to the rotor to generate an attraction force that causes the rotor to be eccentric. The opposing face is formed so as to be linearly symmetrical with respect to the axis line, which is the pickup movement line.
