An electric saddled vehicle includes a vehicle body frame, a drive-wheel, a drum brake that brakes drive-wheel, and a swing unit that is swingably supported by vehicle body frame. The swing unit includes a drive motor configured separately from drive-wheel and a speed-reducing-mechanism that transmits power from the drive motor to the drive-wheel and has a wheel-drive-portion. The drive motor and speed-reducing-mechanism are arranged on a first-side, the drum brake is arranged on a second-side, and the wheel-drive-portion is arranged so that a distance of the wheel-drive-portion to a first-end-surface of the drive-wheel is shorter than a distance of the wheel-drive-portion to a center of vehicle in the left-right-direction, and a brake drum of the drum brake is arranged at position where the brake drum overlaps a second-end-surface of the drive-wheel in plan view.

Electric saddled vehicle and drive device for electric vehicle

An electric vehicle includes an axle that is a hollow cylindrical shaft. A motor shaft is inserted into a hollow portion of the axle substantially coaxially with the axle. In this case, on one side of a wheel, a motor is connected to a base end of the motor shaft extending from one end of the axle. Also, on the other side of the wheel, a reduction mechanism is connected to a leading end of the motor shaft extending from the other end of the axle.

Electric vehicle

An electric vehicle capable of protecting a coupling portion between a wheel and an axle from disturbance. An electric vehicle includes an axle that is a hollow cylindrical shaft passing substantially coaxially through a wheel in a manner extending from both sides of the wheel. A motor shaft is inserted into a hollow portion of the axle substantially coaxially with the axle in a manner extending from both ends of the axle. In this case, a motor is connected to a base end of the motor shaft extending from one end of the axle. Between the wheel and the motor, there are provided a coupling portion for coupling between the one end of the axle and the wheel, and a labyrinth structure for sealing between the wheel and the motor in a manner surrounding the coupling portion.

The disclosed structure achieves a desired balance between higher-rigidity and weight saving in a connection-type rocker arm which integrally rocks a plural of arm portions. The rocker arm has a plurality of arm portions integrally formed on a swinging base end side of the rocker arm which are forked and extend towards a swinging end of the rocker arm, a connecting portion which integrally connects each swinging end of the arm portions, and a concave thinning portion which overlaps a swinging trajectory of the connecting portion, when viewed in the axis direction of the pivot shaft of the rocker arm.

Rocker arm structure

A small-sized vehicle has an oil control valve for a hydraulically-actuated mechanism of an engine, and provides good cooling of the oil control valve. A small-sized vehicle includes a spool valve for adjusting a hydraulic pressure for a hydraulically-actuated mechanism of an engine. The spool valve is disposed sideways of a cylinder portion (cylinder head) such that an axis of the spool valve extends substantially in parallel with an axis of the cylinder portion. Further, the spool valve is disposed at a position that is rearward of a radiator and that falls within a vertical span of the radiator in a vehicle side view.

Small-sized vehicle

An internal combustion engine is equipped with a variable valve control system which is operable to selectively actuate an engine valve using one of two cams of a camshaft, by sliding a rocker arm in the axial direction of a rocker-arm shaft. The system is capable of restricting the axial-direction movement of the rocker arm within a predetermined range, using a simple structure without unduly increasing the number of component parts. Position-restriction portions are formed in a rocker arm, and abut on a trigger arm to restrict sliding movement of the rocker arm within a predetermined amount, when the trigger arm is disengaged from the rocker arm.

Internal combustion engine with variable valve control system

An electric vehicle includes a double-sided swing arm that supports a motor shaft, an axle, and a wheel by supporting a motor on one side of the wheel and a reduction mechanism on the other side of the wheel. In this case, the swing arm is composed of, on the one side of the wheel, plural separable arm portions. The arm portions have respective separation points on an outside or outer periphery of the wheel. With the components arranged in this manner, weight balance of the electric vehicle is easily achieved, and the operational efficiency of mounting, removal, and replacement of the wheel and the motor is improved.

In an internal combustion engine, a variable valve-actuating mechanism includes a trigger pin operable to permit axial movement of a rocker arm concurrently with a axial movement of a rocker arm shaft. A retention member has an insertion aperture formed therein, in which the trigger pin is inserted, and which slidably supports the trigger pin in the inserting direction. The trigger pin includes upper and lower expanded portions disposed on both sides thereof in the inserting direction. The upper and lower expanded portions of the trigger pin are operable to disable sliding motion of the trigger pin, relative to the retention member, beyond a predetermined range. The upper and lower expanded portions allow the trigger pin to be integrally assembled in the insertion aperture of the retention member, so as to be selectively retained therein.

Variable valve-actuating mechanism for an internal combustion engine, and engine incorporating same

An internal combustion engine is equipped with a variable valve controlling system, in which the single actuator is disposed in a cylinder head on one side where one ends of the rocker-arm shafts are disposed, while enabling the single actuator to activate the rocker arms irrespective of the arrangement of the rocker-arm shafts. In the internal combustion engine, a hydraulic cylinder of a hydraulic actuator is disposed so as to transverse a timing chamber. Operation elements extend respectively from sidewalls of a plunger in the hydraulic cylinder, and activate respective rocker-arm shafts. In a motorcycle on which the engine is mounted, a frame member of a vehicle frame is disposed outside the hydraulic actuator.

Internal combustion engine having a hydraulically-actuated variable valve control system, and motorcycle incorporating same

A multi-cylinder engine in which a transmission mechanism is provided between a cam shaft linked with intake valves and exhaust valves and a crank shaft rotatably supported by a crank case and a plurality of bearing caps, wherein the transmission mechanism is configured as a chain-type transmission mechanism for making the engine compact. The restriction on the rotatably supporting position of a chain tensioner is moderated and the length of the chain tensioner is set at a relatively large value. The transmission mechanism is configured such that an endless chain, is wound around a drive sprocket, fixed on a crank shaft and a driven sprocket, fixed on a cam shaft. One end portion in the longitudinal direction of a chain tensioner, extending in the running direction of the chain is rotatably supported on one of the plurality of bearing caps in such a manner as to be elastically, slidably in contact with the chain.

Multi-cylinder engine

To provide a multi-cylinder engine in which cam shaft linked with a plurality of intake valves and a plurality of exhaust valves for carrying out intake and exhaust operations for a plurality of combustion chambers is rotatably supported by cam bearing portions provided on the cylinder head and a cam holder fastened to the cam bearing portions. An oil passage capable of supplying oil from an oiling passage provided in the cylinder head is formed in the cam shaft. Oil can be supplied in the oil passage in the cam shaft without restriction in the location of fastening bolts for fastening the cylinder head to the cylinder block. An oiling hole is provided in the cam shaft in such a manner as to be in communication with the oil passage, and an oil groove in communication with the outer end of the oiling hole is formed in a cam bearing portion, provided in the cylinder head, at a position corresponding to one of combustion chambers, in such a manner as to face toward the outer surface of the cam shaft. Furthermore, the oiling passage is in communication with the oil groove.

Structure for lubricating cam shaft in multi-cylinder engine

A horizontally-opposed type engine for a motorcycle, in which a pair of left and right cylinder heads are connected to a pair of left and right cylinder blocks in such a manner that combustion chambers are formed between each of the cylinder blocks containing a plurality of cylinder bores disposed in parallel with the axial lines thereof extending substantially in the horizontal direction and pistons slidably fitted in the cylinder bores; a crank shaft is disposed in such a manner as to be perpendicular to the axial lines of the cylinder bores; and the engine is mounted on the motorcycle with the axial line of the crank shaft extending in the longitudinal direction, wherein the restriction to the bank angle of the motorcycle given by the exhaust pipes is made small and thereby the bank angle is easily ensured. A plurality of exhaust passages, for introducing exhaust gas from the combustion chambers, are provided in each of the cylinder heads in such a manner as to be tilted toward the central side of the motorcycle in the width direction and to be opened downwardly.
