A battery module includes a cell stack in which a plurality of plate-shaped cells is stacked such that each main surface, which is a surface of each of the plate-shaped cells in a cell thickness direction, faces one another.

Battery module, and method of manufacturing battery module

A battery pack includes a plurality of stacked battery assemblies and an insulating spacer. The battery assemblies are provided with a pair of unit cells stacked in a thickness direction. Each unit cell includes a cell body having a power generation element and a flat shape, and an electrode tab protruding out from the cell body. The spacer is disposed between electrode tabs of the pair of the unit cells holding the electrode tabs and is electrically connected in the battery assemblies. A pair of the electrode tabs has distal end portions electrically connecting adjacent battery assemblies of the battery assemblies to each other. The distal end portions are bent in the stacking direction on a side of a surface of the insulating spacer. The distal end portions are positioned on opposite sides of the cell body. The distal end portions that are bent are electrically connected to each other.

Battery pack

A unit cell including a cell body, an electrode tab (an anode side electrode tab and a cathode side electrode tab) and a sealing member (laminate film). The cell body includes a power-generating element and is formed into a flat shape. The anode side electrode tab and the cathode side electrode tab extend out from the cell body. The sealing member (laminate film) includes a sheet-shaped metal layer and a sheet-shaped insulating layer that covers and insulates the metal layer from both sides to sandwich and seal the cell body. In the sealing member, an exposed end portion of a metal layer is spaced from a surface of the insulating layer, while bending at least a portion of an outer edge.

Assembly including unit cell and spacer

A spacer is used with a unit cell that has a cell body including a power-generating element and formed to have a flat shape and an electrode tab extending out from the cell body. The first spacer has a protrusion, a recess, and an opening. The protrusion has a protruding shape and is inserted into a hole or notch provided on the electrode tab to guide the electrode tab. The first recess has a recessed shape, and is separated from the electrode tab around the base of the protrusion. The first opening allows a portion of the first recess to communicate with a side surface of the spacer.

Spacer and battery pack

A method for assembling a battery pack having a cell group includes stacking the plurality of the unit cells such that distal end portions of the electrode tabs of the unit cells are bent along a stacking direction, disposing a pair of first cover members both ends of the unit cells in the stacking direction, disposing a pair of second cover members on both ends of the unit cells in a direction that intersects with the stacking direction, welding the first and second cover members while the cell group is pressurized using the first cover members. The welding of the first cover members and the second cover members is performed prior to electrically connecting the unit cells by a bus bar. The method further includes laser-welding the bus bar to distal end portions of the electrode tabs after the first cover members and the second cover members are welded.

Method for assembling battery pack, and battery pack

A battery pack production method is provided for producing a battery pack having several unit cells that are stacked with filling members interposed therebetween. The stacked unit cells are electrically connected. The battery pack production method includes measuring the thicknesses of the unit cells, arranging a filling member between adjacent ones the unit cells, and pressurizing the filling member to reduce a thickness of the filling member in the stacking-direction. In the battery pack production method, the thickness of the filling member is controlled based on the measured thicknesses of the unit cells after stacking according to at least one of: an amount of the elastic adhesives arranged; a length of time during which the elastic adhesives are pressurized; and a force pressurizing the elastic adhesives; and a distance between stacking-direction centers of two unit cells adjacent in the stacking direction is kept within a constant range.

Battery pack production method

A battery pack has a cell group and a bus bar. The cell group is stacking a plurality of unit cells in a thickness direction. The unit cells each includes a cell body having a power generation element and a flat shape, and an electrode tab protruding out from the cell body. The electrode tabs have distal end portions bent in a stacking direction of the unit cells. The flat plate shape bus bar connects the distal end portions of the electrode tabs of the unit cells while facing the distal end portions, and electrically connects the electrode tabs of at least two of the unit cells with each other.

Battery pack and battery pack manufacturing method

A battery pack includes a cell group, a spacer, a plurality of bus bars, and a bus bar holder. The cell group includes stacked unit cells, each including a cell body having a power generation element and an electrode tab having distal end portions bent along the stacking direction. The spacer is disposed between adjacent electrode tabs. The bus bars electrically connect the electrode tabs to each other. The bus bar holder that holds the bus bars. The bus bar holder includes a restricting member disposed between adjacent electrode tabs, and extends along the stacking direction to restrict the electrode tabs by sandwiching the electrode tabs with the spacer. Portions of the electrode tabs are welded to a surface of the bus bars facing the unit cells when the stacking direction positions of the portions of the electrode tabs are restricted by the restricting member and the spacer.
