An engine comprises a crank case () provided with a lower opening portion (), which is covered with an oil pan () from below, and with a pair of left and right oil passages which extends in a front and rear direction along left and right lateral walls () and (). In this engine, the crank case () has the left and right lateral walls () and () provided with left and right ribs () and () extending in the front and rear direction. These left and right ribs () and () are raised inwards from the left and right lateral walls () and () of the crank case (). In order to provide left and right oil passages () and () in these left and right ribs () and (), these ribs () and () are positioned at the lower opening portion () of the crank case ().

Engine

In a governor device of a diesel engine, a control rack of a fuel injection pump is adapted to be controllably actuated by a balance between a governor spring and an engine revolution speed responsive means. A speed control member is adapted to be manipulated for adjusting a tension force of the governor spring. A fuel limiting actuation member serves to prevent an excessive fuel flow from being injected when the speed control member is manipulated for a quick acceleration. A quick acceleration state detecting means serves to detect a quickly accelerated state of the engine so as to selectively change over the fuel limiting actuation member to a fuel limiting position and to a fuel limitation cancelling position depending on the lapse of time.

Governor device of diesel engine

In a swirl chamber type combustion chamber for a diesel engine having an injection passage provided for to guide the stream of combustion gas gradually spreading right and left during the injection from the swirl chamber to the main combustion chamber, a top surface of a piston head is provided with a concavity formed in such a configuration as gradually spreading right and left as progressing from the inlet end to the outlet end thereof, for example like an unfolded-fan. And the inlet end of the concavity is located so as to face to the outlet of the injection passage. The stream of combustion gas injected from the injection passage is to be guided so as to be sufficiently diffused in the main combustion chamber by the concavity.
