A remote control system includes a main body apparatus and a remote controller. A motion sensor included in the remote controller detects an amount of change in posture of the remote controller. A user interface creator included in the main body apparatus creates a user interface image including a pointer. The user interface creator: determines virtual coordinates of the pointer based on the amount of change in posture; when the virtual coordinates of the pointer are present in a movable region, displays the pointer at a position of the virtual coordinates; when the virtual coordinates of the pointer are present outside the movable region, displays the pointer at a position in the movable region closest to the virtual coordinates; and when the virtual coordinates of the pointer have reached a boundary of a clip region, limits the virtual coordinates of the pointer within the clip region.

Remote control system and electronic device

A video output device outputs a plurality of video streams with use of shutter glasses, and dynamically switches between different videos such that in the case where a plurality of viewers are viewing a video output by the video output device, only a viewer who is operating a remote control can view a video stream different from a video stream other viewers are viewing. Operation signals instructing to start or terminate an operation mode are received. In an operation mode, time-sharing output of a first video stream and a second video stream is performed, and synchronizing signals each in synchronization with a time-sharing timing are transmitted. In a normal mode, images that are each generated based on any of images constituting the first video stream are output, and images constituting the second video stream are not output.

Video output device and video display system

A playback device for updating a character string in synchronization with a moving image displays a gradation character using an available index in a color lookup table. The playback device includes a pre-analysis unit that pre-analyzes character-string display instruction information in a text subtitle stream, thereby recognizing in advance the available index in the color lookup table and displaying the gradation character using the available index.

A display device of the present invention displays a first image stored in first memory and a second image stored in second memory, by overlaying the first image on the second image. Once a display size/position of the first image is acquired, a first image generation unit is controlled to start generating the first image complying with the acquired display size/position. Until generation of the first image is completed, (i) a second image generation unit is controlled to generate an opaque second image that is opaque and large enough in size to cover the first image being generated, and (ii) the opaque second image is displayed. Upon completion of generation of the first image, (i) the second image generation unit is controlled to generate a partially transparent second image including a transparent part to be positioned over the first image, and (ii) the partially transparent second image is displayed.

Display device

A recording device records contents in a plurality of recording media. While the recording device records a content in a recording medium, if a free space of the recording medium runs out, an unrecorded part of the content needs to be recorded in another recording medium. In order to play back all parts of the content, all recording media in which all the parts of the content have been separately recorded are necessary. Particularly, if an internal recording medium included in the recording device has a small space and accordingly a sufficient space is secured by connecting an external removable recording medium to the recording device after the recording has started, parts of the content are separately recorded in the internal recording medium and the external recording medium. As a result, even if the external recording medium is removed from the recording device and is connected to a playback device in order to play back all the parts of the content, it is possible to play back only one part of the content. In order to play back all parts of the content using another playback device, a user needs to edit the separately recorded parts of the content so as to be saved in a single recording medium. In view of this problem, the present invention aims to provide a recording device that controls a recording destination of a content to be recorded such that the content can be recorded in a single recording medium for as long as possible.

Recording device for recording a content into a plurality of recording media and control method thereof

Since a editing character string is managed by an input server, an application device cannot know whether scrolling is necessary. Accordingly, there has been a problem that it is impossible to properly realize a scroll function. Accordingly, a receiving unit receives an instruction from a user operation or an application device, and a character string editing unit edits a character string according to the instruction received. Further, an output management unit manages output, and a state notifying unit notifies a change of the internal state to the application device. When a output area does not have enough empty space to display an editing character, the state notifying unit instructs the application device to shift the confirmed character string. The application device, upon receiving the instruction, scrolls the confirmed character string upward.
