An inner case of an electrolysis system houses therein an electrolysis stack. An intermediate case encloses the inner case from outside. An outer case encloses the intermediate case from outside. A method of operating the electrolysis system includes a vacuum step, a heat storage step, and an electrolysis starting step. In the vacuum step, air in a vacuum space formed between the intermediate case and the outer case is discharged. In the heat storage step, a heating fluid is supplied to a heat storage space formed between the inner case and the intermediate case.

Electrolysis system and method of operating the same

A fuel producing system includes an electrolyzer that is supplied with a raw material gas containing carbon dioxide and water vapor, and electrolyzes the raw material gas to generate a product gas containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide, and a first gas-liquid separator that performs gas-liquid separation on the product gas generated in the electrolyzer. Water vapor produced from water separated in the first gas-liquid separator or water vapor produced from water from a water supply source is allowed to be supplied to the electrolyzer in addition to the raw material gas.

Fuel producing system

A water electrolysis and electricity generating system is equipped with a second supply flow path, a second lead-out flow path, a second gas-liquid separator, a hydrogen exhaust gas circulation flow path, and a storage flow path. In the second lead-out flow path, product hydrogen gas and hydrogen exhaust gas are led out from a cell member. The second gas-liquid separator separates into a gas and a liquid the product hydrogen gas and the hydrogen exhaust gas which have been led out from the second lead-out flow path. The second lead-out flow path and the second gas-liquid separator are shared in common by a water electrolysis mode and an electricity generating mode.

Water electrolysis and electricity generating system

A method of operating a water electrolysis and electricity generating system includes, at a time of switching from the water electrolysis mode to the electricity generating mode, a water electrolysis stopping step, a purging step and an electricity generation starting step. In the purging step after the water electrolysis stopping step, an oxygen-containing gas is caused to flow from an oxygen-containing gas flow path to a first gas-liquid separator via an oxygen-containing gas introduction flow path, a first supply flow path, a first inlet port member, a first fluid flow path, a first outlet port member, and a first lead-out flow path. In the electricity generation starting step after the purging step, the cell member is caused to generate electricity based on a predetermined required load value.

Method of operating water electrolysis and electricity generating system

A water electrolysis and electricity generating system is equipped with a water introduction flow path, an oxygen-containing gas flow path, an oxygen-containing gas introduction flow path, a first gas-liquid separator, and a dilution flow path. The oxygen-containing gas introduction flow path introduces the oxygen-containing gas that flows through the oxygen-containing gas flow path into the first supply flow path. The first gas-liquid separator separates into a gas and a liquid the gas-containing water that is guided from the first lead-out flow path connected to the first outlet port member. The dilution flow path guides the oxygen-containing gas that flows through the oxygen-containing gas flow path to the first gas-liquid separator as a diluting gas.

A hydrogen production apparatus includes a water electrolysis unit, a storage unit, a supply unit, and an electrical equipment unit. A first ventilation flow path causes air to flow through an electrical equipment chamber and a storage chamber, which is formed by at least one of a water electrolysis chamber, a storage chamber, and a supply chamber. A second ventilation flow path causes air to flow through at least one of the water electrolysis chamber, the storage chamber, and the supply chamber that is not the storage chamber. The electrical equipment chamber is positioned farthest upstream in the first ventilation flow path, and the first ventilation flow path and the second ventilation flow path are separated from each other.

Hydrogen production apparatus

A water electrolysis system includes a water electrolysis device; a water circulation circuit section including a water circulation pump; an antifreeze circulation circuit section including an antifreeze circulation pump; and a heat exchanger configured to perform heat exchange between the water circulation circuit section and the antifreeze circulation circuit section. Before water electrolysis is started by the water electrolysis device, a control device of the water electrolysis system circulates water by driving the water circulation pump and sets the antifreeze circulation pump to an operationally stopped state.

A heating apparatus of a water electrolysis system includes: an enclosure with a draw-in hole; a heating unit accommodated in the enclosure; a blowing unit for directing outside air to the heating unit; a circulation channel for directing part of air heated by the heating unit to a space between the heating unit and the blowing unit; and a draw-out portion for leading the air heated by the heating unit to the outside. The air in the circulation channel is introduced to a space between the heating unit and the blowing unit due to the Venturi effect.

Electric power in the fuel cell is generated to raise a temperature of the coolant while stopping the vehicle. The coolant is circulated from the fuel cell to a radiator while stopping the vehicle. The coolant flowing from the radiator is supplied to an ion exchanger to remove ions from the coolant while stopping the vehicle.

An operation method of a fuel cell system includes the step of determining whether or not performance recovery control of a fuel cell stack should be started. This operation method includes the step of, if it is determined that the performance recovery control should be started, supplying water content to a membrane electrode assembly by a water content adjusting device, while maintaining power generation voltage of the fuel cell stack at 0.3 V or lower in a state where an oxygen-containing gas is circulated through a closed circulation channel.

Method of operating fuel cell system with performance recovery control

A fuel cell stack is comprised of a plurality of power generating units which are stacked along the horizontal direction. An oxidant gas inlet port and a fuel gas inlet port are provided in an upper portion of one of the power generating units, and an oxidant gas outlet port and a fuel gas outlet port are provided in the lower portion of the power generating unit. A refrigerant inlet port and a refrigerant outlet port are formed in each of the left and right portions of the power generating unit.

A humidification control method includes the steps of detecting a direct current resistance component by measuring impedance during power generation of a fuel cell stack, calculating a reaction resistance component based on the detected direct current resistance component and a stack voltage, detecting a humidified state of the fuel cell stack based on the detected direct current resistance component and the calculated reaction resistance component, and adjusting a quantity of humidification of a reaction gas supplied to the fuel cell stack based on the detected humidified state of the fuel cell stack.

Humidification control method for fuel cell

In a method of operating a fuel cell, a voltage difference between voltages of a first unit cell and a second unit cell is detected. Whether the voltage difference is out of a predetermined range is determined. If the voltage difference is determined to be out of the predetermined range, humidity of a first reactant gas before being supplied to a first reactant gas passage is adjusted or humidity of a second reactant gas before being supplied to a second reactant gas passage is adjusted. The first reactant gas passage is provided in a first separator. The first reactant gas is to be supplied to one of first electrodes through the first reactant gas passage. The second reactant gas is to be supplied to another of the first electrodes through the second reactant gas passage.

Fuel cell and method of operating fuel cell

A method of starting operation of a fuel cell stack includes the steps of performing gas replacement by supplying a fuel gas to a fuel gas flow field from a downstream side of the fuel gas flow field through a fuel gas discharge passage, and supplying an oxygen-containing gas to an oxygen-containing gas flow field from an upstream side of the oxygen-containing gas flow field through an oxygen-containing gas supply passage. After the step of performing gas replacement, normal power generation is carried out by supplying the fuel gas to the fuel gas flow field from an upstream side of the fuel gas flow field through a fuel gas supply passage, and supplying the oxygen-containing gas to the oxygen-containing gas flow field from the upstream side of the oxygen-containing gas flow field through the oxygen-containing gas supply passage.

Method of starting operation of solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell

A fuel cell includes a membrane electrode assembly and an anode side metal separator and a cathode side metal separator sandwiching the membrane electrode assembly. An oxygen-containing gas flows in an oxygen-containing gas flow field in a horizontal direction. A coolant flows in a coolant flow field in a vertical direction. The coolant flow field is connected to coolant supply passages and coolant discharge passages. The opening of one of the coolant supply passages and the opening of one of the coolant discharge passages are smaller than those of the other coolant supply passages and the other coolant discharge passages in cross section, respectively. Thus, the flow rate of the coolant supplied to an area near outlets of the oxygen-containing gas flow field and the fuel gas flow field become smaller than the flow rate of the coolant supplied to the other area.
