A water- and oil-repellent agent that is an aqueous dispersion containing (A) a fluorine-free polymer having repeating units derived from a fluorine-free (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer, (B) a wax, (C) an aqueous medium, and (D) an emulsifier. The fluorine-free (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer is a compound represented by the formula CH&#x2550;CA-C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;O-Awhere Ais a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and Ais a linear or branched Chydrocarbon group. The emulsifier includes a sorbitan ester and another emulsifier, and the emulsifier has a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) of 7.5 to 13.5. Also disclosed is a method of producing the water- and oil-repellent agent and a method of producing a treated substrate by applying the water- and oil-repellent agent to a substrate.

Surface treatment agent

Provided is a surface treatment agent which does not use fluorine-containing monomers, particularly fluoroalkyl group-containing monomers. The surface treatment agent is a water-based emulsion which includes: a copolymer (1) which includes a first polymer formed from first monomers, and a second polymer formed from second monomers, wherein the second polymer is polymerized in the presence of the first polymer, the first monomers include a long-chain acrylate ester monomer (a) represented by the formula CH&#x2550;CA&#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;O-A(in the formula, Arepresents hydrogen, a monovalent organic group, or a halogen, and Arepresents a Cstraight-chain or branched hydrocarbon group), the first monomers do not include a halogenated olefin monomer (b), and the second monomers include the halogenated olefin monomer (b); a surfactant (2) including a nonionic surfactant; and a liquid medium (3) including water.

Provided is a surface treatment agent which does not use fluorine-containing monomers, particularly fluoroalkyl group-containing monomers. Additionally, provided is a copolymer which includes a first polymer formed from first monomers, and a second polymer formed from second monomers. The copolymer does not include fluorine. The second polymer is polymerized in the presence of the first polymer. The first monomers include a long-chain acrylate ester monomer (a) represented by the formula CH=CA-C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;O-A(in the formula, Arepresents hydrogen, a monovalent organic group, or a halogen, and Arepresents a Cstraight-chain or branched hydrocarbon group). The first monomers and the second monomers both include a halogenated olefin monomer (b).

Copolymer, and surface treatment agent

A surface treatment agent which is an aqueous emulsion containing: (a) a fluorine-free polymer including: (i) repeating units derived from a long-chain (meth)acrylate ester monomer represented by the formula: CH&#x2550;CA-C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;O-A, wherein Ais a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, and Ais a linear or branched aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 10-30 carbon atoms; (b) a surface active agent including both of a nonionic surface active agent and an anionic surface active agent, wherein the amount of the anionic surface active agent is at least 22% by weight, based on the total of the nonionic surface active agent and the anionic surface active agent; and (c) a liquid medium comprising water.

Water-based surface treatment agent

A surface treatment agent, which can impart the excellent water- and oil-repellency, soil resistance and feeling to the substrate, is obtained from a fluorine-containing polymer which contains: (A) a monomer which comprises; (A1) a fluorine-containing monomer of the formula: CH&#x2550;C(&#x2014;X)&#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;Y&#x2014;Z&#x2014;Rf wherein X is a hydrogen atom, a monovalent organic group, or a halogen atom, Y is &#x2014;O&#x2014; or &#x2014;NH&#x2014;, Z is a direct bond or a divalent organic group, and Rf is a fluoroalkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, and (A2) a (meth)acrylate monomer having a cyclic hydrocarbon group, and (B) at least one functional organopolysiloxane selected from the group consisting of a mercapto-functional organopolysiloxane, a vinyl-functional organopolysiloxane, a (meth)acrylamide-functional organopolysiloxane and a (meth)acrylate-functional group.

Fluorosilicone polymers and surface treatment agent

Provided is an aqueous emulsion composition which has excellent chemical stability (stability with respect to impurities) and excellent mechanical stability. Disclosed is an aqueous emulsion composition which contains: (A) a polymer that contains a fluoroalkyl group; and (B) a surfactant that contains (B1) an amidoamine surfactant having an amide group and an amino group, and (B2) a nonionic surfactant. It is preferable that the surfactant does not contain a monool having an unsaturated triple bond or an alkylene oxide addition product of a polyol.

Aqueous emulsion composition

A fluorine-containing polymer having (a) a repeating unit derived from a fluorine-containing monomer indicated by the formula CH&#x2550;C(&#x2014;X)&#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;Y&#x2014;Z&#x2014;Rf, (b) a repeating unit derived from a cyclic-hydrocarbon-group-containing acrylate ester monomer indicated by the formula CH&#x2550;CQ&#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;O-Q, and (c) a repeating unit derived from an aliphatic-hydrocarbon-group-containing acrylate ester monomer indicated by the formula CH&#x2550;CQ&#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;O-Q. The fluorine-containing polymer is produced by polymerizing in the presence of one or both of (d) a silicon-containing monomer and a silicon-containing chain transfer agent.

A fluorosilicone reaction product of a mercapto or vinyl functional organopolysiloxane and a fluorine-containing monomer, and methods of preparing the fluorosilicone are disclosed. The fluorosilicone products are suitable for application to substrates such as textiles, particularly fabrics, to impart oil repellent properties to the textile. The fluorosilicone reaction product is prepared from (A) a fluorine-containing monomer of the formula CH&#x2550;C(X)COOYRf, and (B) a mercapto or vinyl functional organopolysiloxane.

Dispersion of fluorosilicones and fluorine- and silicon-containing surface treatment agent

An aqueous emulsion composition comprising (A) an aqueous resin emulsion comprising a fluorine-containing polymer and (B) a surfactant of the formula:RO&#x2014;(CHCHO)&#x2014;(RO)&#x2014;R&#x2003;&#x2003;(1)wherein Ris an alkyl group or an alkenyl group, Ris an alkylene group, Ris a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an alkenyl group, p is the number of at least 2, q is the number of at least 1, and p and q are such numbers that the weight ratio of the polyoxyethylene block is from 5 to 80% by weight based on whole molecule, is excellent in stability against impurity and mechanical stability.

An aqueous water- and oil-repellent dispersion containing: (A) a homopolymer or copolymer containing at least one polymerizable compound having a perfluoroalkyl or perfluoroalkenyl group and an acrylate or methacrylate group, or a copolymer containing said polymerizable compound and another compound copolymerizable therewith, (B) a surfactant comprising a cationic surfactant and a nonionic surfactant comprising an alkylene oxide adduct of a higher aliphatic secondary alcohol, and (C) a high flash-point organic solvent, has durable water- and oil-repellency and excellent storage stability.

Aqueous water-and oil-repellent dispersion

An aqueous water- and oil-repellent dispersion containing: (A) a homopolymer or copolymer containing at least one polymerizable compound having a perfluoroalkyl or perfluoroalkenyl group and an acrylate or methacrylate group, or a copolymer containing said polymerizable compound and another compound copolymerizable therewith, (B) an organic solvent which is tripropylene glycol, and (C) a surfactant, has durable water- and oil-repellency and excellent storage stability.
