Wig fixing member and method of using the same

A tape reel in which a thin flange portion is formed by reducing a thickness of each of front and rear flange surfaces of the tape reel and a thick portion having a thickness larger than that of the thin flange portion is formed at a plurality of places of an outer periphery of the flange portion. When the tape reel is molded by using a molding metal mold, a pin is inserted into the molding metal mold at a portion corresponding to a portion where a resin is filled into the thin flange portion last, and air and gas within a cavity are discharged from a spacing formed between the molding metal mold and the pin. Thus, the occurrence of short mold and weld line on the thin portion of the tape reel thus molded can be avoided and a rotational fluctuation of the reel flange surface can be avoided. The front and rear surface portions of each of upper and lower flanges of the tape reel are further formed as thin flange portions by uniformly reducing the thickness of each of the front and rear surface portions thereof except outer peripheral edge portions thereof and radial tape position restricting ribs are formed on tape contact flange surfaces of the upper and lower flanges. Thus, the flanges can be prevented from being warped even when the thicknesses thereof are reduced.

A reel lock device for use in a video tape cartridge having upper and lower shells and reels rotatably disposed between the shells, includes reel lock levers rotatable on the lower shell to be engaged with the reels and disengaged therefrom. A release slider is slidably disposed on the lower shell and has two positions where the reel lock levers are engaged with the reels and disengaged therefrom, respectively. A stopper is secured on the lower shell and limiting sliding of the release slider in one direction. The release slider is formed with projections which extend therefrom to contact a rib projecting downwardly from the upper shell, the rib being narrower than the length of the projections.

Reel lock device for a video tape cartridge

A tape cassette arranged such that coarse surface areas are formed on guide surfaces used to guide a magnetic tape along the external surface of the front side wall portion formed inside of a cassette lid and that the coarse surface areas are gradually reduced toward the seam 19 of upper and lower parts. Thus, when the upper and lower parts are molded, the upper and lower parts can be removed from the metal molds with ease. Also, electrification can be prevented from occurring in the magnetic tape or in the upper and lower parts when the magnetic tape is transported along the guide surfaces.

A screw including a head and a shaft having a helically threaded portion and a barbed portion is provided. In operating the barbed portion driven into a hole by pressure on the head in the axial direction. When the barbed portion is completely driven into the hole, the threaded portion comes into contact with the wall of the hole for driving the screw slightly further into the hole in this manner tight engagement between the two members fastened by the screw can be achieved. The barbed portion is so formed as to prevent removal of the screw.

A tape cassette comprising upper and lower halves secured to each other to define a space containing a pair of tape reels. The upper half is formed in its upper surface with a depression. The upper half is provided with a window opening above one of the tape reels. A transparent window plate is provided on the upper half. The window plate is made through a molding process using a gate to spout a fused transparent synthetic resin into a molding cavity. The transparent window plate has a first portion covering the window opening and a second portion extending a substantial length from the first portion over the depression. The window plate second portion has a gate mark made thereon after the molding process. The gate mark is hidden under a label stuck on the depression.

Tape cassette

A reel flange for a tape reel in a tape recording system which has an annularly-shaped projecting portion which merges into a recessed annularly-shaped control portion. A plurality of inwardly-directed rib members extend inwardly from the projecting portion into the recessed central portion to aid in the alignment of the reel flanges when stacked during manufacture. Openings in the recessed control portion receive mating pins located on a cylindrical projecting portion intermediate the flanges of the reel to secure the flange to the projection portion. The flange further defines a stacking-pin receiving opening with an alignment lug. The thickness of the projecting portion of the reel flange may also decrease with increasing radial distance from its center.

In a video tape cassette having upper and define a substantially rectangular housing with an opening extending along a side thereof between end walls of the housing for containing reels having tape wound thereon and guided between the reels in a run extending across the opening, and a lid structure which is pivotally mounted on the housing for movement by a coil spring from an open position exposing the tape run to a closed position in which the lid structure covers the tape run; the assembling of the tape cassette is facilitated by providing anchors on the lid structure by which the coil spring is initially or tentatively located during the mounting of the lid structure on one the housing portions, whereupon the coil spring is transferred into engagement with an anchor on that one housing portion in preparation for assembling of the latter with the other housing portion. An improved coil spring has a leg portion which defines an area of contact with a latch element which is greater than that defined by the length of the leg portion, such as by binding the end of the leg portion.
