A treatment method for hydrophilicity for a heat exchanger which can maintain the deodorizing property and hydrohilicity even after a long-time use, and a heat exchanger thus treated for hydrophilicity by said method are provided. After a previous acidic washing treatment, a heat exchanger is subjected to a chemical transformation treatment to form a chemical conversion coating film using a chromium chromate treatment agent, chromium phosphate treatment agent, or treatment agent of zirconium series, followed by a treatment for hydrophilicity using a treatment agent for hydrophilicity, which contains silica particulates and polymer of vinyl alcohol series in aqueous medium in a weight ratio 30:70&tilde;70:30 and in tot al content of 1&tilde;25 weight percent, and in which said silica particulates are coated with said polymer of vinyl alcohol series, and dispersed as coated particles of the average particle diameter of 5&tilde;1000 nm in aqueous medium, to form the coating film so as to amount to 1&tilde;3 g/m .

Treatment method for making heat exchanger hydrophilic and heat exchanger treated to be hydrophilic

A corrosion-resistant and brazeable aluminum material. has an aluminum core, and a thermally sprayed layer formed on the core is composed of a brazing metal intermingled with zinc or its alloy. The brazing metal may be a mixture of aluminum and silicon, an aluminum-silicon alloy, a blend of the mixture with the alloy, or silicon. The brazeable aluminum material may be produced by blending a first powder of the brazing metal with a second powder of a corrosion resistant substance including zinc, so as to prepare a powder mixture, and then thermally spraying the powder mixture onto the aluminum core.

A stack type evaporator includes tubular elements 1 each having a plurality of inwardly protruding recessed ribs 7 which extend from an upper header portion 1a of the element to a lower header portion 1b, with the ribs serving as straight drainage canals 7a of specified width and area. A hydrophilic resin coating of a specific composition covers the outer surfaces of the tubular elements 1 and fins 2 each interposed between two adjacent tubular elements. The combination of straight drainage canals, the specified width and area thereof and the specific hydrophilic resin coating is effective to facilitate the drainage of condensed water so that the waterdrop is substantially prevented from flying out of the evaporator, and the hydrophilic coating itself does not emit any unpleasant smell.

A brazeable aluminum material is composed of an aluminum core and a brazing agent layer consisting of a brazing agent thermally sprayed onto covering a surface of the core. A number of unmolten minute particles of the brazing agent are present in the brazing agent layer, which contains at least an aluminum-silicon alloy and/or a mixture of aluminum and silicon. Characteristic features of a method of producing the brazeable aluminum material are the steps of: preparing a powder composed of minute particles; and thermally spraying the powder onto the aluminum core in such a state that only a surface of each minute particle is molten, with a pith of the particle remaining unmolten. The powder is an Al-Si alloy and/or a mixture of Al powder and Si powder.

In a continuous surface treating method and apparatus with an inline centrifugal separator, an object to be treated is contained in a basket and hung from a hanger of an overhead type and a series of surface treatments of the object is carried out by using a continuous conveyer of a power and free type. By using a hanger attach-detach conveyer, the object is moved from a main conveyer to a sub-conveyer and an excessive treating liquid attached to the object in a previous process is separated by using the centrifugal separator. Then, the object is returned from the sub-conveyer to the main conveyer to perform a next process. The surface treating apparatus includes the rotatable basket for containing the object. When the surface treatment of the object such as a heat exchanger or the like is continuously executed in the conveyer line, a bringing of the excessive treating liquid attached to the object in the previous process into a next process can be prevented and the concentration of the treating liquid in a bath can be maintained to a constant value. As a result, the obtained film thickness becomes uniform and the quality of the object can be improved.

The hydrophilic coating composition including, on a solid basis, (a) 0.3-6 parts by weight of polyvinyl pyrrolidone having a polymerization degree of 10-1000; and (b) 1-10 parts by weight of polyvinyl alcohol having a saponification degree of 80% or more and a polymerization degree of 100-1000, a weight ratio of the component (a) to the component (b), (a)/[(a)+(b)], being in the range of 0.1-0.9.
