A weather strip for an automobile comprising a trim portion securable to a flange of an automobile. The trim portion has a holding piece and a concave portion. The concave portion is disposed at a base portion of the holding piece and is in contact with an end of the flange. The concave portion is cooperable with the end of the flange to enable the trim portion to be slidably rotatable with respect to the end of the flange when being secured to the flange. An adhesive is provided at an inner surface of the holding piece for adhering the trim portion to the flange.

Weather strip for an automobile and a method for assembling the same

An automotive weatherstrip mounted along a peripheral flange of a door opening of an automobile is provided. The weatherstrip includes a trim part having a generally U-shaped cross-section to be held by a peripheral flange of the door opening and a hollow seal part for contacting a peripheral edge of a door, protruding generally perpendicular from one side of said trim part. The trim part, at a corner portion of the peripheral flange of the door opening, is curvedly formed by cutting away a portion of the hollow seal part. A molded hollow seal part, at the corner portion, is integrally molded with the trim part and has an outer configuration substantially similar to that of the hollow seal part. The molded hollow seal part is circumferentially offset from the curved trim part so as to extend along an upper side and a vertical side of the door opening. A generally triangular covering part is provided to cover a side surface of the trim part from which the hollow seal part is cut away and is integrally molded with the molded hollow seal part.

Automotive weatherstrip

A weather strip is provided having a first seal, a second seal and a connecting portion so as to be engaged by a small engaging force with a flange having engaging portions on both sides thereof. The connecting portion, being made of hard material, connects a receiving portion of a first seal and a receiving portion of a second seal. A longitudinal groove or a bending portion made of soft material is provided near the receiving portion of the second seal of the connecting portion. The weather strip can be easily engaged with a seal supporting portion of the flange by a bending action of the connecting portion.

Weather strip

A door frame and galss run assembly for a motor vehicle including a door frame, a door molding secured along an inner periphery of the door frame, and a glass run inserted in the channel portion formed by the door frame and the door molding. The glass run has a solid rubber base portion which is generally U-shaped in cross-section and is inserted into the channel portion. A projection made of sponge rubber is formed on an outer surface of an outside corner portion of the base portion with respect to the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle. When the base portion is inserted into the channel portion, the projection comes into pressing contact with an inner surface of an outside corner portion of the channel portion with respect to the passenger compartment.
