The present invention optimizes conditions of an imaging device when acquiring an image so as to improve the accuracy of image recognition. An image recognition system comprises: an image acquisition unit for acquiring an image captured by an imaging device; a recognition model generation unit having at least one environment recognition unit, recognizing at least one image by the environment recognition unit, and generating a recognition model; and a state estimation unit for estimating the state of the imaging device and the characteristic of the imaging device that corresponds to said state, on the basis of the image and the recognition model. The state estimation unit further generates an imaging correction parameter to correct the imaging condition of the imaging device, on the basis of the estimated state and characteristic and/or the recognition model.

A vehicle external recognition extracts a feature point from an image including an environment around a vehicle; measures a distance from the vehicle to the feature point based on a movement of the feature point; extracts, as a first road surface area, a local area judged as a road surface based on distance information to the feature point and a position of the feature point in the image from among a plurality of local areas in the image; calculates a multi-dimensional image feature amount including color information for each of the plurality of local areas, and similarity to the first road surface area using the image feature amount with respect to a no-road-surface-extracted area(s) from among the plurality of local areas; extracts a second road surface area from the no-road-surface-extracted area(s) based on the similarity; and recognizes a travelable area using the first and the second road surface areas.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide an outside recognition device for a vehicle with which it is possible to correctly estimate the orientation of an obstruction. A sample positioning method that can easily and quickly position a target observation area of a sample, which is disposed on a sample stage in a sample chamber of a charged particle beam apparatus, into a field of view of a first charged particle beam. The method includes displaying an image including the sample on a display screen; designating an attention point on the basis of the image on the display screen while maintaining the relative position of the attention point with respect to the sample stage; aligning the position of the sample stage in the direction of an optical axis so that the attention point is positioned in an on-axis point tracer plane perpendicular to the optical axis through an on-axis target point on the optical axis; moving the attention point to the on-axis target point by performing detection of deviation of the attention point from the on-axis target point and movement in the on-axis point tracer plane; and moving the attention point into a depth of focus of a charged particle beam optics.
