A recording apparatus has a recording head, a platen, and a first hole. The recording head includes a dot formation element array, and the platen holds a recording medium opposite the recording head. The first hole is disposed in an area of the platen opposite a downstream portion of the dot formation element array and guides ink discarded outside an end of the recording medium when the end is printed without a margin. Alternatively or additionally, a second hole is formed in an area of the platen opposite an upstream portion of the dot formation element array, and the platen guides ink, which is discarded outside an end of the recording medium when the end is printed without a margin, to the second hole.

Ink-jet recording apparatus and recording method therefor

A recording head has a dot formation element array including a pluarlity of dot formation elements arranged in a first direction. A platen is operable to hold a recording medium in a position opposite to the recording head. The platen has a hole formed in a substantially center area in the first direction of the platen. The hole guides ink that has be discarded outside at least one of a leading end and a trailing end of the recording medium when data are recorded on the recording medium without leaving a margin on at least one of the leading end and the trailing end of the recording medium. The hole has a size in the first direction which is less than an entire portion of the dot formation element array.

A liquid ejection head is operable to eject a liquid droplet toward a target position. A transporter transports a first target medium toward the target position in a first direction. A guide member has a guide face along which a tray member on which a second target medium is mounted is fed toward the target position in a second direction which is opposite to the first direction. The guide member is pivotable between a first position for closing the guide face and a second position for opening the guide face to support the tray member. A first sensor detects that the guide member is placed in either one of the first position and the second position. A controller disables the transporter from transporting the first target medium when the first sensor detects that the guide member is placed in the second position.

Liquid ejection apparatus

A liquid ejecting head is operable to move in a first direction. A platen is opposed to the liquid ejecting head to support an object to which a liquid droplet is ejected from the liquid ejecting head and to define a gap between the liquid ejecting head and the object. The platen is formed with a groove hole to which a liquid droplet deviated from an edge of the object is disposed, and through holes formed in a bottom portion of the groove hole and arranged in the first direction. A tray member is arranged below the platen to receive liquid dropped through the through holes. A first liquid absorber is provided in the groove hole. A second liquid absorber is provided in the tray member. At least one liquid leading member extends through at least one of the through holes to lead liquid absorbed by the first liquid absorber to the second liquid absorber.

Waste liquid treating device and liquid ejecting apparatus incorporating the same

A transferring tray for a printing apparatus for printing on one major surface of a recording media having disc shape, wherein the printing apparatus includes, a carriage having a printing head, reciprocating in a main scanning direction, a transferring unit transferring the recording media in a sub scanning direction, a detecting unit detecting the recording media being transferred by the transferring unit, and a recording unit printing on the one major surface of the recording media, the transferring tray including: a tray body having a rectangular plate shape made of a material which is not detected by the detecting unit; a detected portion formed on either one of two major surfaces of the tray body, being detectable by the detecting unit; and a mounting portion having a mounting recess such that the one major surface of the recording media comes up to substantially same level as one of the major surfaces of the tray body when the recording media is mounted on the transferring tray.

A first region is defined on the head face so as to include a first group of nozzles among all nozzles formed with a recording head. A first amount is defined as a difference between a first reference position at which a leading edge of a recording medium situated at a recording start position is placed and a first shifted position at which the leading edge of the recording medium, which has been most shifted in a subscanning directions and most inclined within a feeding tolerance of a feeder, is placed. A first virtual leading edge is defined at a position where is shifted from the first reference position to a downstream side of the subscanning directions by the first amount. A second virtual leading edge at a position where is shifted from the first reference position to an upstream side of the subscanning directions by the first amount. A first type of recording is performed with the first group of nozzles, when an end of the first region in the upstream side of the first directions is situated at the first virtual leading edge. A second type of recording is performed with all the nozzles, when the end of the first region in the upstream side of the first directions is situated at the second virtual leading edge.

Recording method and recording apparatus

An ink jet recording apparatus includes a paper gap switching portion for switching paper gaps by moving a recording head, a pressing-force adjustment portion for applying a pressure to a following roller and releasing the pressure from the following roller so as to adjust a pressing force applied to a recording medium, and an operation member for controlling a driving operation of the paper gap switching portion and a driving operation for the pressing-force adjustment portion.
