Provided is a polishing apparatus which comprises a polishing mechanism for polishing a wafer taken out from a cassette, an attaching-detaching device for attaching to and detaching the wafer from the polishing mechanism, a device for cleaning the polished wafer, and a transportation device for transporting the wafer between the cassette, polishing mechanism, attaching-detaching device, and cleaning device. These devices are arranged individually in compartments. A working chamber is divided into a plurality of compartments by means of partitioning devices. A device for polishing a workpiece is set in one of the compartments. The apparatus is also provided with communication devices for internally connecting the adjacent compartments which are divided by the partitioning devices. The apparatus may further comprise devices for individually controlling the respective internal pressures of the compartments or a device for generating an air flow in the form of a laminar flow in each of the compartments.

Polishing apparatus

The present invention uses a surface plate 8 made of carbon fiber reinforced plastics which is installed on a turntable 4, and an emery cloth 6 is adhered on the surface of the surface plate 8. This surface plate 8 is detachably installed on the turntable 4 by means of key blocks 22 or screws 26. If the turntable 4 is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastics, the entire weight of a polishing machine can be reduced.

An apparatus for winding elongated wire pieces around frame-like cores of a workpiece comprises a workpiece holder, mounted on a base so as to be movable about an axis perpendicular to an operation surface, for holding a workpiece with its frame-like cores extending therefrom, a wire piece having a first end portion fixed by the holder and a second end portion extending toward a second end face side being inserted in each core of the workpiece held by the holder, a tension means, movable in directions to move close to and away from the workpiece holder, for holding the second end portion of the wire piece, a pin fixed to the workpiece holder so as to be movable between an inoperative position at which the pin is not in contact with the wire piece and an operative position at which the pin deflects the wire piece in one direction, the operative position being defined such that contact of a wire piece portion between the workpiece holder and the tension means with the frame-like core being prevented when the workpiece holder is rotated about its rotational axis, and a guide means for guiding a wire piece portion between the tension means and the pin when the pin returns to the inoperative position after the pin is rotated together with the workpiece holder to a position at which the core is located at a position opposite to the home position.

Winding apparatus

A winding apparatus has a rotating unit on which a video head having a through hole is mounted. A wire is fed through the through hole and drawn taut. The video head is pivoted 180.degree. by the rotating unit so that the wire stretched is wound around the head. Then, a first wire feeding unit clamps the end portion of the wire, is pivoted 180.degree. and moved to the vicinity of the head to direct the end of the wire to the through hole. Thereafter, the first feeding unit feeds the wire trough the through hole from one end thereof, and the wire is stretched thereby winding the wire around the head. The head is then pivoted 180.degree. by the rotating unit to wind the wire around the head. Thereafter, a second wire feeding unit clamps the end portion of the wire and is pivoted 180.degree. and moved to the vicinity of the head to direct the end of the wire to the through hole. The second feeding unit then feeds the wire through the through hole. Thereafter, the apparatus is continually driven in the above steps.

Toroidal winding apparatus

A winding apparatus has a rotating unit on which a video head having a through hole is mounted. A wire is fed through the through hole and drawn taut. The video head is pivoted 180.degree. by the rotating unit so that the wire stretched is wound around the head. Then, a first wire feeding unit clamps the end portion of the wire, is pivoted 180.degree. and moved to the vicinity of the head to direct the end of the wire to the through hole. Thereafter, the first feeding unit feeds the wire through the through hole from one end thereof and the wire is stretched thereby winding the wire around the head. The head is then pivoted 180.degree. by rotating unit to wind the wire around the head. Thereafter, a second wire feeding unit clamps the end portion of the wire and is pivoted 180.degree. and moved to the vicinity of the head to direct the end of the wire to the through hole. The second feeding unit then feeds the wire through the through hole. Thereafter, the apparatus is continually driven in the above steps.

The second feeding unit then feeds the wire through the through hole. Thereafter, the apparatus are continually driven in the above steps.

Toroidal core winding apparatus

A winding apparatus has a holding unit on which a video head having a through hole is mounted. A wire is supplied by a wire supply unit through the through hole from one end thereof. A first wire suction unit draws by suction the wire from the other end side of the through hole and is moved away from the video head to render the wire taut. The video head is pivoted 180.degree. by the holding unit so that the wire stretched is wound around the head. Then, a first wire feeding unit clamps the end portion of the wire at the first suction unit side, and is pivoted 180.degree. and moved to the vicinity of the head to direct the end of the wire to the through hole. Thereafter, the first feeding unit feeds the wire through the through hole from one end thereof, and the wire fed is drawn by a second suction unit from the other end side of the through hole. The second suction unit is then moved away from the head to stretch the wire between the head and the second suction unit, thereby winding the wire around the head. The head is then pivoted 180.degree. by the holding unit to wind the wire around the head. Thereafter, a second wire feeding unit clamps the end portion of the wire at the second suction unit side, and is pivoted 180.degree. and moved to the vicinity of the head to direct the end of the wire to the through hole. The second feeding unit then feeds the wire through the through hole. Thereafter, the first and second suction units, the first and second feeding units, and the holding unit are continually driven in the above steps.
