A projector includes an illumination system that outputs illumination light containing white light, which is visible light, and infrared light, an image formation section that forms image light from the illumination light, a projection system that projects the image light on a projection surface and radiates the infrared light onto the projection surface, and a detection section that detects a pointing element based on reflected light formed of the radiated infrared light. The image formation section includes a light-exiting-side polarizer that transmits the visible light in such a way that the light-exiting-side polarizer transmits light formed of one polarization component and blocks light formed of another polarization component, and the light-exiting-side polarizer transmits the infrared light in such a way that the light-exiting-side polarizer transmits the two polarization components of the infrared light.

An interactive system includes a transmitter (light-emitting pen) configured to transmit an optical signal and a projector. The projector includes a signal-intensity setting unit in which intensity information of a synchronization signal is set, a signal-intensity control unit (light-emission control unit) configured to control the intensity of the synchronization signal on the basis of the setting of the signal-intensity setting unit, a synchronization-signal transmitting unit (infrared-light emitting unit) configured to transmit the synchronization signal, and an image pickup unit configured to pick up an image of the optical signal transmitted from the transmitter. The transmitter includes a receiving unit (pen reception unit) configured to receive the synchronization signal and an optical-signal transmitting unit (pen control unit and a light-emitting diode) configured to transmit the optical signal in synchronization with the synchronization signal received by the receiving unit.

The present invention provides a fringe field switching (FFS) mode liquid crystal display panel including a plurality of scanning linesand common linesprovided in parallel, a plurality of signal linesprovided in a crank manner in a direction perpendicular to the scanning lines, and pixel electrodesandeach formed between the plurality of scanning linesand signal linesin a delta arrangement. Each of the pixel electrodesandhas a plurality of slitsand, respectively, inclined in different directions to each other with respect to an axis x parallel to the scanning linesand positioned between adjacent scanning lines. The pixel electrodesin odd-numbered rows and the pixel electrodesin even-numbered rows are inverted to each other with respect to another axis perpendicular to the axis x. With such features, the FFS mode liquid crystal display panel provides symmetrical viewing angle generating no spots in a transverse direction, a wide viewing angle, a bright display with high transmittance and excellent display quality.

A liquid crystal device includes display pixels corresponding to at least a color of white or non-coloring and one color different from the color of white or non-coloring. Each of the display pixels corresponding to one color have a transmissive region and a reflective region. Each of the display pixels corresponding to the color of white or non-coloring have only a transmissive region. Colored layers are provided in the display pixels that correspond to one color, and cell-thickness-adjusting layers are included in the reflective region of each of the display pixels corresponding to one color and the transmissive region of each of the display pixels corresponding to the color of white or non-coloring. For the display pixels corresponding to one color, a thickness of a layer crystal layer corresponding to the transmissive region is larger than a thickness of the liquid crystal layer that corresponds to the reflective region.
