A data imprinting device for a camera is provided with a light shielding system that shields part of light incident on an imaging frame of a film when the frame is exposed to light from an object to form a data imprinting area which is an unexposed area in the imaging frame. The data imprinting device is further provided with a data imprinting system that forms an optical image of data, such as photographing data, on the data imprinting area in a form of an encoded symbol, such as a bar code.

A camera having an electronic flash equipment includes a body case having a generally rectangular shape in a front elevational view. A photographing lens is provided near the center of a front surface of the body case. A strobe mounting arm is pivoted, at a base end thereof, to an upper portion of the body case, to be rotatable between inoperative and operative positions. When the strobe mounting arm is in the inoperative position the strobe mounting arm extends along and on the body case. When the strobe mounting arm is in the operative position, a front end portion of the strobe mounting arm projects outward from a lateral edge of the body case adjacent to the pivotal connection of the body case to the strobe mounting arm. The strobe mounting arm is provided on the front end portion with a strobe light emitter which faces toward a subject to be photographed when the strobe mounting arm is in the operative position.

A parallax compensation system in a camera finder includes a mirror surface mounted to a mounting member. The mounting member is rotatably mounted to a mounting frame having protrusions about which the mounting member rotates such that the mounting member is rotatable about an axis defined on the mirror surface. A cam mechanism is rotatably mounted on a top surface of the mounting frame for regulation of the mounting member to have a predetermined position. An urging member biases the mounting member against the cam mechanism, so that when the cam mechanism is rotated, the mounting member is rotated about its axis according to a cam surface of the cam mechanism. The mounting member is rotated about the axis of the mirror surface to change an optical axis of the same to compensate for parallax.

A remotely controllable camera system has a photodetector mounted in a camera housing and facing a front panel thereof. The photodetector detects an external optical command signal beam applied thereto through the front panel. The camera system also has an optical fiber for guiding an external optical command signal beam applied through a rear panel of the camera housing toward the photodetector. The external optical command signal beam is transmitted from an infrared remote controller which may be positioned in front of or behind the camera. In a camera adapted to be sealed against water, a camera having a reciprocating lens barrel, a member for detecting water around the camera, and for controlling the lens barrel, so that the lens barrel will not be moved when water is detected by the detecting member. In another embodiment the camera is provided with a member for detecting water at a certain hydraulic pressure and a member for indicating an alarm when water at such a pressure is detected. Thus, by immobilizing the lens barrel, it is possible to prevent water damage to the camera that might result if the camera were submerged and the lens barrel moved.
