There are provided a heat-aging-resistant polyamide resin composition comprising (C) a polyamide containing 10 to 100% by weight of (A) a polyamide obtained by polymerizing a monomer containing 70 mole % or more of m-xylylenediamine as a diamine component and a monomer containing 70 mole % or more of adipic acid as a dicarboxylic acid component and 90 to 0% by weight of (B) other polyamide, (D) a copper compound in an amount of 0.001 to 0.1 part by weight per 100 parts by weight of the polyamide (C), (E) a halide of a Group 1 or Group 2 metal of the Periodic Table of the Elements, an ammonium halide, or an organohalide in an amount of 0.005 to 1 part by weight per 100 parts by weight of the polyamide (C), at least one selected from among (F) hindered phenols and (G) hindered amines with the amount of each of the hindered phenols (F) and the hindered amines (G) being 0.05 to 3 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the polyamide (C), and (H) an organophosphorus compound in an amount of 0.05 to 3 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the polyamide (C), and a high-Young's modulus heat-aging-resistant polyamide fiber comprising said polyamide resin composition and having a Young's modulus of 400 kgf/mm.sup.2 or more which has an excellent durability, such as a heat-aging-resistance under high-temperature conditions.

An oriented polyamide fiber which comprises at least 20% by weight of a crystalline polyamide copolymer (A) produced by polymerizing at least one diamine monomer containing at least 70 mol % m-xylylenediamine and at least one dicarboxylic acid monomer containing at least 70 mol % adipic acid. The oriented polyamide fiber having a Young's modulus of at least 400 kgf/mm.sup.2, a loop strength of at least 4.5 gf/D, a knot tensile strength of at least 3.5 gf/D and a roundness of from 97 to 100%. A process for producing the oriented polyamide fiber which comprises melting a polyamide resin comprising the crystalline polyamide copolymer (A); spinning the molten resin through a spinneret; pulling the spun product into a coolant bath disposed beneath the face of the spinneret to produce non-oriented fiber to a draw ratio of 2.5 to 8.0 at a temperature not lower than the Tg of the polyamide and not higher than the melting point of the polyamide, wherein the draft ratio is 1.0 to 3.0, and the temperature of the coolant bath (T) satisfies the relational expression: Tg-30.ltoreq.T.ltoreq.Tg+10 (.degree.C.). The oriented polyamide fiber can be used in sporting goods and industrial materials such as strings for a racket, rubber reinforcing materials and filter cloth materials for paper making, by virtue of its high strength, modulus of elasticity and roundness.

Oriented polyamide fiber and process for producing same

There are disclosed oriented polyamide fiber which comprises at least 20% by weight of a crystalline polyamide or a copolymerized polyamide each produced by polymerizing a monomer containing m-xylylenediamine as a diamine component and adipic acid as a dicarboxylic acid component each in an amount of at least 70 mol % (A) and which has a Young's modulus of at least 400 kgf/mm.sup.2, a loop strength of at least 4.5 gf/D, a knot tensile strength of at least 3.5 gf/D and a roundness of from 97 to 100%; and a process for producing oriented polyamide fiber which comprises the steps of melting a polyamide resin comprising at least 20% by weight of the above crystalline polyamide or copolymerized polyamide (A); spinning the molten resin through a spinneret; pulling the spun product into a coolant bath placed beneath the face of the spinneret to produce non-oriented yarn; and thereafter orienting the non-oriented yarn to a draw ratio of from 2.5. to 8.0 at a temperature not lower than the Tg of the polyamide and not higher than the melting point thereof, wherein the draft ratio is from 1.0 to 3.0, and the temperature of the coolant bath (T) satisfies the relational expression: Tg-30.ltoreq.T.ltoreq.Tg+10 (.degree.C.). The oriented polyamide fiber is useful for use in sporting goods and industrial materials such as strings for a racket, rubber reinforcing materials and filter cloth materials for paper making by virtue of its improvement in strength, modulus of elasticity and roundness.

A method for producing a copolyamide, which comprises (1) heating either one dicarboxylic acid selected from the group consisting of adipic acid and a mixture containing 40 mol % or more of adipic acid to a temperature higher than the melting point of adipic acid but lower than a temperature lower by 30.degree. C. than the melting point of the resulting copolyamide, (2) dropping a diamine comprising paraxylylene diamine and metaxylylene diamine into the heated dicarboxylic acid before a conversion of the dicarboxylic acid reaches 90 mol %, (3) stopping dropping of the diamine before the conversion of the dicarboxylic acid reaches 90 mol %, and dropping metaxylylene diamine or a diamine mixture of metaxylylene diamine and paraxylylene diamine in place of the diamine until a molar ratio of the total of the diamines to the total of the dicarboxylic acids becomes 0.97 to 1.03, and (4) heating a reaction system to a temperature higher than a temperature lower by 30.degree. C. than the melting point of the finally formed copolyamide before the conversion of the dicarboxylic acid reaches 95 mol %, and elevating the temperature of the reaction system to a temperature higher than the melting point of the finally formed copolyamide upon termination of dropping the diamine.

Gas-barrier multilayered structure

A process for preparing a polyamide is provided. The polyamide is prepared by causing a dicarboxylic acid and a diamine to polycondensate directly under an atmosphere of an inert gas at atmospheric pressure. The polycondensation reaction is mainly carried out in two diamine component-adding steps, one step comprising adding part of the diamine to the molten dicarboxylic acid until the molar ratio of the diamine to the dicarboxylic acid is brought to within the range of from 0.900 to 0.990 while raising continuously the temperature of the reaction mixture to a temperature not exceeding about 5.degree. C. above the melting point of the object polyamide and the other step comprising adding the remainder of the diamine to the reaction mixture maintained at a temperature higher than about 10.degree. C., but not exceeding about 35.degree. C. above the melting point of the object polyamide until the overall molar ratio of the diamine to the dicarboxylic acid is brought to within the range of from 0.995 to 1.005.

Process for preparing polyamide with molten dicarboxylic acid component

A process for preparing a polyamide is provided. The polyamide is prepared by effecting direct polycondensation reaction of a dicarboxylic acid component containing at least 80 mole % of adipic acid and a diamine component containing at least 70 mole % of m-xylylene diamine under an atmosphere of an inert gas and at atmospheric pressure at a controlled temperature which is higher than the melting point of the dicarboxylic acid component and which can maintain the reaction mixture in a uniformly-fluidized state throughout the reaction.

A process for producing an aromatic polyester carbonate resin in which the molar ratio of the dihydric phenolic compound residue to aromatic dicarboxylic acid residue to carbonate bond is in the range of 2:0.5:1.5-2:1.4:0.6 and these constituent components form an alternating configuration of high regularity, said process comprising a first step wherein in producing a hydroxyl-terminated aromatic oligocarbonate by reacting a dihydric phenolic compound with a halogenated carbonyl compound in a reaction medium consisting of water and a water-immiscible solvent in the presence of a basic inorganic compound, the reaction is carried out by using the basic inorganic compound in an amount of 0.6-1.6 moles per mole of the dihydric phenolic compound and the halogenated carbonyl compound in an amount of 0.3-0.8 mole per mole of the dihydric phenolic compound to form a reaction product mixture consisting predominantly of a phenolic hydroxyl-terminated oligocarbonate of a degree of polymerization of 1-3, and a second step in which an esterification reaction is carried out by reacting the reaction product mixture obtained in the first step with an aromatic dicarboxylic acid dichloride in the presence of a basic inorganic compound in an amount at least sufficient to neutralize the free phenolic hydroxyl groups that remain in the reaction product mixture.

Process for producing aromatic polyester carbonate resin

A process for the isolation of particulate polyarylene esters having good thermal stability and hydrolytic stability, which comprises adding to a solution of a polyarylene ester in an organic solvent a poor solvent for the polyarylene ester at least in an amount such that said solution reaches a cloud point, followed by subjecting said mixed solution to an aging treatment whereby the polyarylene ester precipitates as solids, characterized in that said poor solvent is a mixed poor solvent consisting of 5-95% by weight of an aliphatic alcohol with 1-5 carbons and the other poor solvent for the polyarylene ester, the amount of said mixed poor solvent added being within the range of 100-200% by weight of the amount such that said solution reaches the cloud point and not exceeding the amount of said solution.
