An ink composition comprises a pigment coated with a water-insoluble polymer as a coloring material, a resin emulsion as an additive, water, and a water-soluble organic compound. The weight average molecular weight of the water-insoluble polymer is from 50,000 to 150,000. The resin emulsion comprises a resin comprising a monomer component of the same kind as the monomer component constituting the water-insoluble polymer and has a weight average molecular weight of 1.5 to 4 times that of the water-insoluble polymer. The average particle size of the resin emulsion is from 20 to 200 nm, and the average particle size of pigment particles in the ink composition ranges from 50 to 150 nm.

Inkjet recording method and recorded matter

There is provided a water-based ink that can exhibit high gloss on gloss paper and has excellent fixation while maintaining ink reliability such as recovery from clogging, continuous printing stability, and ink storage stability. The water-based ink comprises at least yellow pigment-containing polymer particles A and pigment-free polymer particles B. The polymer particles A are formed of a water insoluble vinyl polymer produced by polymerizing a specific monomer composition A, and the polymer particles B are formed of a water insoluble vinyl polymer produced by polymerizing a specific monomer composition B and has a minimum film forming temperature of 20&#xb0; C. or above. The polymer particles B have an average particle diameter of 30 to 60 nm.

Water based ink

An ink composition containing at least water, at least one member selected from a compound represented by formula (1) shown below and a salt thereof, and at least one member selected from an aromatic compound having a carboxyl group and a salt thereof: In formula (1), A represents a residue of a 5-membered heterocyclic diazo component A-NH; Band Beach represents &#x2014;CR&#x2550; or &#x2014;CR&#x2550;, or either one of Band Brepresents a nitrogen atom and the other represents &#x2014;CR&#x2550; or &#x2014;CR&#x2550;; Rand Reach independently represents a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group or the like; and G, Rand Reach independently represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group or the like.

Ink composition

Objects of the present invention are to provide a magenta ink composition having good light-fastness and gas resistance, and excellent moisture resistance and clogging resistance, and to provide a magenta ink composition having excellent colorability in addition to these characteristics. The present invention provides a magenta ink composition containing, as colorants, at least one selected from compounds represented by undermentioned formula (1) and salts thereof, and at least one selected from compounds represented by undermentioned formula (2) and salts thereof. Moreover, the present invention also provides a magenta ink composition containing, as colorants, the above and in addition at least one selected from compounds represented by undermentioned formula (3). Magenta ink composition

To provide an ink set capable of recording images with good ozone fastness on a recording medium, an ink set of the present invention comprises at least a yellow ink composition, a magenta ink composition, and a cyan ink composition. The cyan ink composition contains at least one of the compounds expressed by formula (1) below as a cyan dye: and the magenta ink composition contains, as a colorant, at least one substance selected from the group consisting of compounds expressed by formula (2) below: and salts thereof(in formula (2), A represents an alkylene group, an alkylene group containing a phenylene group, or a group expressed by formula (3) below: and X represents a group selected from the group consisting of NH, OH, and Cl).

Ink set

[The present invention] provides a surface treatment method for recorded matter which can improve the weather resistance characteristics such as light resistance, gas resistance and the like of recorded matter in which images are recorded on the recording medium, as well as providing a surface-treated product using this surface treatment method, and a surface treatment apparatus. The surface treatment method of the present invention is characterized in that the surface of recorded matter in which images are recorded on a recording medium is treated using a specified treatment agent. The abovementioned treatment agent is a treatment agent which contains one or more active constituents selected from the group consisting of sulfur compounds, nitrogen compounds, fluorine compounds, natural resins and synthetic resins, or a treatment agent comprising water or an organic solvent.

Method for treating surface of ink jet recording medium having recorded image

The present invention provides a black ink composition obtained by mixing at least one colorant selected from the group consisting of a compound represented by the following formula (1) and a salt thereof, one or more organic acids and one or more organic bases: wherein Rrepresents a phenyl group having a substituent group or a naphthyl group having a substituent group, Rrepresent a phenylene group having a substituent group or a naphthylene group having a substituent group, Rrepresents a 5- to 7-membered heterocyclic ring having at least one double bond and substituent group, and further, the above-mentioned substituent groups in the above-mentioned Rto Rare each independently selected from the group consisting of OH, SOH, POH, COH, NO, NH, a C1&#x2013;4 alkyl group, a C1&#x2013;4 alkyl group having a substituent group, a C1&#x2013;4 alkoxyl group, a C1&#x2013;4 alkoxyl group having a substituent group, an amino group, an amino group having a substituent group and a phenyl group having a substituent group. Further, a recording method and recorded matter using the above-mentioned black ink composition are also disclosed.

Black ink composition

The present invention provides a black water-based ink composition that has excellent resistance to light and ozone, has an excellent hue as a black ink, and also has excellent storage stability. A black water-based ink composition is prepared by combining at least one type of black dye selected from the group consisting of compounds expressed by the following formula (1) and salts thereof:  and at least one type of dye other than a black dye, and the hue is adjusted by adding the dye other than a black dye. It is preferable if the dye other than the black dye is a compound that has at least one type of group selected from the group consisting of an &#x2014;SOH group, &#x2014;COOH group, &#x2014;SOM group, and &#x2014;COOM group (where M in these groups is an alkali metal atom), and is not an ammonium salt or a salt with an organic cation. It is also preferable for the dye other than the black dye to be a dye selected from the group consisting of yellow dyes and magenta dyes.

Black water-based ink composition

A protecting film for covering a recording face of a recording medium includes a support, a first protective layer formed of thermoplastic resin and formed on the support, and a second protective layer formed of thermoplastic resin, and laminated on the first protective layer. An image is formed on the recording face by a thermal transfer type overcoat process.
