It is an object to obtain an optical connector capable of implementing a more reduction in a cost of a work for carrying out an assembly into a site optical fiber, and a method of assembling the optical connector. An almost sheet-like protecting memberfor transmitting a light in a predetermined refractive index is stuck to a tip surface of a ferrulehaving a fiber inserting holepenetrating therethrough with the fiber inserting holecovered, and an optical fiberpositioned by a positioning mechanismto be coupled to a rear part of the ferrulehas a tip surface inserted through the fiber inserting holeof the ferruleto abut on the protecting memberwith an elastic force.

Optical connector and method of assembling the same

Optical connecting member and method of fitting the same

An outlet device, which is to be arranged on a wall surface, includes an outlet box in which electric wiring and optical interconnection are to be accommodated, and a cover plate which covers the outlet box. The cover plate includes a plate surface formed with an opening section through which an electric connection port of at least one of a telephone jack and an electric power supply outlet is to be exposed, and a bulged portion formed, on left or right side of the plate surface, to bulge frontward from the plate surface. The bulged portion is operable to accommodate a connection adaptor to which an optical connector attached directly to an end portion of an optical fiber is fitted, and includes a bottom face formed with an opening through which an optical connection port of the connection adaptor is to be exposed so as to be oriented downward.

Outlet device

A cantilever type latch having the fixed end on the side of exposing the terminal end surface of the optical fiber is provided on the side of the plug housing. Near the center of the upper surface of the latch, an engaging projection which is to be engaged in the engaging hole formed in the adapter or the receptacle is formed. The engaging projection has the slope which decreases the height toward the fixed end side of the latch, in which the gradient of the slope is nearly equal to or greater than the rotation angle required for the elastic deformation of the latch with the fixed end functioned as the fulcrum. Thereby easy disconnecting of the latch is implemented.

Optical connector

Herein disclosed are a method and an apparatus for supplying an electrical energy to a pair of discharge electrodes spaced apart from each other to cause an electric discharge in a gap between the discharge electrodes. There are firstly provided an alternating voltage generator for generating, as the electrical energy, an alternating voltage having a frequency, and a capacitor connected to the discharge electrodes in series. The alternating voltage generator has a series resonant frequency. The alternating voltage of the alternating voltage generator is applied to the discharge electrodes through the capacitor. The frequency of the alternating voltage is set approximately to the series resonant frequency of the alternating voltage generator to cause a dielectric breakdown in and allow an electric discharge current to flow through the gap between the discharge electrodes. Alternatively, the frequency of the alternating voltage may be approximated to the series resonant frequency of the alternating voltage generator, for example, from a frequency higher than the series resonant frequency.
