A drive device includes a shaft rotatably supported by a first bearing and a second bearing. The first bearing is disposed in a shaft hole of an output frame end. The second bearing is disposed in a bearing box of an opposite-to-output frame end. An oil seal is fixed in the shaft hole and is closer to an output end than the first bearing is, and is in sliding contact with an outer circumference of the shaft. A biasing member is housed in the bearing box and biases an outer race of the second bearing toward the output end. Accordingly, a deflection amount and a bend amount of the shaft at the location where the oil seal is disposed may be reduced.

A motor is provided having a consequent-pole type rotor that has soft magnetic material poles and magnetic poles positioned around the rotor in an alternating manner. A convex surface on each of the poles is formed as a surface in which a midpoint of the convex surface has a radial distance from the rotation axis that is greater than a radial distance of the circumferential edges of the convex surface from the rotation axis. A radial width of a first magnetism transfer part of a cylindrical yoke and a radial width of a second magnetism transfer part of the magnetic pole fulfill a relationship such that an appropriate balance of the magnetic resistance between the first magnetism transfer part and the second magnetism transfer part is achieved. As a result, cogging torque is reduced without reducing output torque.

A rotational position sensing apparatus includes a rotational position sensing magnet and a fixing member. The fixing member is made of a non-magnetic material and is fixed to a rotatable shaft of a rotor. The fixing member includes a plurality of projections, which radially inwardly project and are arranged one after another in a circumferential direction at an inner peripheral surface of a first peripheral wall portion within a space, which is defined by the first peripheral wall portion and a bottom wall portion and holds the rotational position sensing magnet.

A roadside-vehicle cooperative illumination system in which a headlight of a vehicle and a road illumination lamp can be controlled cooperatively through communications between an in-vehicle apparatus and a roadside apparatus. For example, when power consumption of the headlight has to be reduced, an in-vehicle apparatus side arbiter transmits a request to the roadside apparatus for increase illumination of the road illumination lamp. A roadside apparatus side arbiter determines whether or not to accept the request from the in-vehicle apparatus, and a roadside apparatus side controller controls the road illumination lamp according to the determination of the roadside apparatus side arbiter. This enables the road illumination lamp to be controlled cooperatively so that illumination of the road illumination lamp can compensate for deficiencies in illumination of the headlight, which leads to enhancement of vehicle driver's convenience and ensuring of safety.

An apparatus corrects a position coordinate measured by a GPS receiver. Road data representing a position coordinate of a constructed road is included. Locus data representing a plurality of position coordinates of the GPS receiver during a past specified period is generated based on a position coordinate acquired.
