A display apparatus capable of receiving and displaying video signals which differ in scanning frequencies or resolutions. The display apparatus includes an input section for receiving at least one video signal and a conversion unit for converting at least one of the frequency and resolution of the at least one received video signal so as to be within predetermined higher ranges thereof. A display unit enables display of the converted received at least one video signal.

Display apparatus

A liquid crystal display device capable of preventing a semiconductor element from malfunctioning due to the light which enters the semiconductor element from the display side opposed to a light source side. The liquid crystal display device comprises a first substrate ( ), a second substrate and a liquid crystal sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate. The liquid crystal display device further comprises semiconductor elements (FG) formed over the first substrate and arranged in a matrix, and a light shielding film (BS) formed over the first substrate for blocking the light which would enter the semiconductor elements from the display face of the liquid crystal display device if not blocked.

Liquid crystal display device

A method for forming a liquid crystal display device, which includes steps of forming a metal film over a substrate, patterning the metal film to form a first gate electrode and a first capacitor electrode as a part of a first capacity element, and forming a first insulating film over the metal film. The steps further include forming a first polycrystalline-silicon layer over the first insulating film, and patterning the first polycrystalline-silicon layer to form a second capacitor electrode as a part of the first capacity element and a second capacity element, while additionally including the steps forming a second insulating film over the polycrystalline-silicon layer, forming a second polycrystalline-silicon layer over the second insulating film, and patterning the second polycrystalline-silicon layer to form a second gate electrode and a third capacitor electrode as part of the second capacity element.

In a method for driving a display device, by which energy stored in a plurality of electrodes serving as a capacitive load is recovered through switches, current paths for charging said electrodes from a charge supplying source differ from current paths for discharging the electrodes for the energy recovery.

Driving method and apparatus for display device

A switching circuit has switching elements for passing-through or cutting-off signals of a positive pulse, which is a rectangular pulse rising from a low level and falling after having kept a high level for a certain time as a high voltage input signal, and a negative pulse, which is a rectangular pulse falling from a high level and rising after having kept a low level for a certain time, the switching circuit being applied to a capacitive load driving device.

A video display system that includes a housing has arranged thereon a plurality of video input terminals for receiving a plurality of video signals having different scanning frequencies. An expansion/compression processing circuit replaceably mounted on the housing receives and expands/compresses the plurality of video signals and produces at least one video signal expanded/compressed in synchronism with a sync signal selected by a sync switching circuit. At least one of the video signals is synthesized with another video signal, and the synthesized video signal is produced by a video signal synthesis circuit. A video signal from the video signal synthesis circuit is used to generate a video display signal in synchronism with the sync signal. This video display signal is applied to a display. At least one such video display system, an AV controller, a central control console and a lecture table are combined to realize a screen display system.

Video display apparatus for displaying a plurality of video signals

In order to enable sampling of high definition still video signals in addition to common video signals, a function is added for sampling video signals with every other plurality of picture elements as an interval to an image processing apparatus without using a sampling circuit which requires high speed operations. The invention is also intended to change over between two circuits that is, a circuit for using a picture element clock regenerated by a PLL circuit as a sampling clock for analog to digital converters and a circuit for using a clock obtained by dividing the picture element clock as a sampling clock for the analog to digital converters to sample video signals with every other plurality of picture elements as an interval. Thus, it is possible to carry out sampling of high definition video signals with high frequencies in addition to common video signals without necessity of raising the operating speed of the sampling circuit.

Image processing apparatus with change over of clock signals

A display apparatus using a matrix display panel, such as a liquid crystal panel, for converting the number of scanning lines to be displayed to a number that can be accommodated on a panel having a smaller number of scanning lines. The apparatus includes a control circuit which produces control signals in synchronism with the input video signal, horizontal and vertical scanning circuits each including a shift register operated by the control circuit, and a display panel which is formed of a matrix arrangement of pixels that are driven selectively by the scanning circuits. The apparatus further includes a circuit which halts the operation of the vertical shift register at a certain interval within the effective scanning period of the vertical scanning circuit so as to extract vertical shift clocks, thereby removing the vertical shift clocks within the effective display period of the video signal, thereby extracting periodically extracting scanning lines.

Scanning conversion display apparatus

A display device suitable for a high speed operation liquid crystal display device includes a matrix circuit having a plurality of signal lines, scanning lines disposed so as to intersect the signal lines and pixels provided at the positions corresponding to the intersections of the signal lines and the scanning lines; and a switching circuit for incorporating picture signals provided in correspondance to the signal lines, wherein the adjacent switching circuits are both turned on simultaneously.

A differentiated signal derived by differentiating a video signal is supplied to a horizontal deflecting coil, so that a current having a waveform corresponding to that of the differentiated signal and superposed on a horizontal deflecting signal flows through the horizontal deflecting coil.

Disclosed is a chroma scanning circuit used in a beam index type color picture reproducing apparatus, the circuit being provided with an inductance element connected in series to a horizontal deflection coil, and a scanning signal generation circuit connected to a junction between the horizontal deflection coil and the inductance element. The impedance between the junction and the earth at the chroma scanning frequency is increased by the inductance element to thereby make a chroma scanning signal generated from the chroma scanning signal generation circuit flow easily in the horizontal deflection coil.
