Vehicle seat and stiffness setting method for vehicle seat

A vehicle seat has a cushion pad, a breathable outer cover and an air permeable material layer. The cushion pad includes an air passage extending from an air introducing port disposed at the non-passenger facing surface to a branch passage formed along the passenger facing surface. The branch passage has at least one bypass air passage that extends in a vehicle-widthwise direction of the cushion pad. The breathable outer cover is disposed over the passenger facing surface of the cushion pad. The air permeable material layer is disposed between the cushion pad and the breathable outer cover. The air permeable material layer includes a plurality of vent outlets passing through in a thickness direction of the air permeable material layer. The vent outlets are arranged in at least one column that extends in a direction perpendicular to the vehicle-widthwise direction.

A driving assisting for calculating risk potential by considering a response delay by the driver and transmitting information related to the risk potential to the operator in a haptic manner. A controller is provided to estimate the response delay based on an operation performed by the operator. Based on the estimated response delay, the controller calculates a future position at which the risk potential is to be calculated. The longer the response delay, the remoter the future position is. The shorter the response delay, the nearer the future position is. The calculated risk potential at the future position may be transmitted to the operator via a pressing force from one of right and left side portions of a driver's seat occupied by the operator.

A driver assisting system calculates a risk perceived (RP) by a driver from the environment, and a potential risk. A driving assist method and system for assisting a driver operating a vehicle. An obstacle is detected and information of a legal speed restriction on vehicle speeds for a road which the vehicle is traveling on, is obtained. A first type risk perceived by the driver from the detected obstacle is calculated, and a second type of risk is determined by comparing the detected vehicle speed and the legal speed restriction. The calculated first and second type of risk are translated into different first and second forms of tactile stimulus, respectively, and are applied to the driver via a single device to forward the calculated first and second type of risk to the driver. The single device is the driver's seat or the driver controlled device.

A driving assisting system for conveying risk information to a driver of a vehicle. The system includes a detector configured to acquire data related to a driving condition of the vehicle and an object in the vicinity of the vehicle, and a data processor configured to calculate a collision risk potential of the vehicle to collide with the object based on the data related to the driving condition of the vehicle and the object. Information related to the collision risk potential to the driver of the vehicle via a visual signal and a haptic signal.

Driving assistance method and system for conveying risk information

A driving assistance system and method for providing driving condition information to a driver via a seat with a haptic signal. A set of state signals of the vehicle with respect to a lane on the road is generated. The set of state signals include at least a lateral position signal that indicates a lateral positional relationship of the vehicle with respect to the lane and a heading angle signal that indicates a heading angle of the vehicle with respect to the lane. A haptic signal is generated based on the set of state signals to convey information regarding the lateral positional relationship of the vehicle with respect to the lane and the heading angle of the vehicle with respect to the lane.

A driving information system that conveys driving condition information to a driver of a vehicle via a haptic notification seat. A signal representing a driving condition, such as a lateral position of the vehicle, is generated. A vehicle driving assist system comprises a condition recognition device that detects a vehicle condition and a traveling environment around a subject vehicle; a reactive force application device that applies a reactive force, in conformance to the vehicle condition and the travelling environment around the subject vehicle, to an operation device; a condition change detection device that detects a condition change occurring around the subject vehicle; and a reactive force variation device that adjusts the reactive force applied by the reactive force application device in a period of time, when the condition change detection device detects that a condition around the subject vehicle has changed discontinuously.

An accelerator pedal device includes: an accelerator pedal; a reaction force application device that applies a reaction force to the accelerator pedal; and a selection device that selects a characteristic between a first characteristic according to a running situation of a subject vehicle and a second characteristic specified regardless of the running situation of the subject vehicle. The first characteristic and the second characteristic each is a characteristic indicating a relationship between an amount of stepping upon of the accelerator pedal and the reaction force to be applied. The reaction force application device applies the reaction force to the accelerator pedal based upon the characteristic selected by the selection device.
