A photosensitive material of the diazonium type which comprises a support, a precoat layer thereon and a photosensitive layer of a diazonium compound is improved by using a graft copolymer on a cellulose derivative as the precoat layer. A hydrophilic epoxy compound may be used in the precoat layer and a coupler and a benzenediazonium hexafluorophosphate derivative may be used in the photosensitive layer.

Photosensitive diazonium material with precoat of graft polymer prepared

A process for preparing a graft polymer by subjecting a cyclic ester to ring-opening polymerization in the presence of a cellulose derivative in the presence of a ring-opening polymerization catalyst for the cyclic ester. The resulting graft polymer has high transparency, good film-formability and high solubility and can be suitably used as a novel polymer material.

Process for preparing novel graft polymer

A cellulose derivative-containing aqueous dispersion which is obtained by polymerizing a mixture of a cellulose derivative, at least one radical-polymerizable unsaturated monomer capable of dissolving the cellulose derivative therein and water under radical polymerization conditions, said aqueous dispersion containing as a dispersion stabilizer a water-soluble or water-dispersible polymer in which polymeric chain group compatible with the polymer obtained said radical-polymerizable unsaturated monomer is chemically bonded onto a hydrophilic polymeric chain group.

Aqueous dispersion

A resin composition is prepared by emulsion-polymerizing a cellulose ester and at least one radical-polymerizable unsaturated monomer in the aqueous medium under the presence of a dispersion stabilizer, said cellulose ester having been modified by chemically bonding thereonto a polymeric chain compatible with a polymer obtained from said radical-polymerizable unsaturated monomer.
