There is disclosed a silver halide photographic emulsion comprising silver halide grains, wherein 50% or more of the projected area of the silver halide grains to be contained is occupied by tabular grains having an aspect ratio of 2 or more and a grain thickness of 0.2 &mgr;m or less, with the tabular grains each having a phase with the content of silver bromide being 10% or more, and wherein in the phase, the tabular grains each contain a metal complex dopant in an amount necessary to increase the density of a dislocation. This emulsion produces high contrast and better granularity while it has high sensitivity. Further, there is also disclosed a silver halide photographic emulsion, wherein the average equivalent-circle diameter of the total tabular grains among the silver halide grains contained is 2.0 to 4.0 &mgr;m, and the tabular grains contain at least one metal complex having, as a ligand, a heterocyclic compound in a number more than half of the coordination number of the metal atom. This emulsion has high sensitivity and excellent photographic characteristics exhibiting little change of gradation upon exposure to high-intensity illumination. In addition, the present invention provides a silver halide color photographic light-sensitive material using the emulsion, and a color image forming process that is simple and rapid and places little load on the environment, using the material.

Disclosed is a silver halide photographic emulsion which comprises silver halide particles containing a polynuclear metal complex in which an organic compound is contained as a bridging ligand, wherein 50% or more of a projected area of the particles is occupied by tabular particles having a particle thickness of 0.3 &mgr;m or less. This photographic emulsion is high in sensitivity, as well as give high contrast and good graininess. Also disclosed are a light-sensitive material for photographing of high image quality, which contains the photographic emulsion, and a simple method for forming a color image wherein the light-sensitive material is used.

Disclosed is a ultrahigh speed silver halide color photographic material for picture-taking use, which comprises a support coated with at least three light-sensitive layers comprising blue-sensitive, green-sensitive and red-sensitive silver halide emulsions respectively: with the photographic material having a characteristic speed of at least 800 and the total silver coverage of at most 7.0 g/m,, and satisfying the following relation between the total silver coverage (X) and the characteristic speed (Y); (X)/(Y),&lE;0.185, thereby ensuring excellent granularity and storage stability.

Silver halide color photographic material and method of forming color images using the same

Disclosed is a silver halide color photographic photosensitive material in which the photosensitive layer of the photosensitive material comprising a silver halide emulsion, a developing agent and a coupler is put together with the processing layer of a processing material so that these layers are heated to form a color image in the photosensitive material, said silver halide grains in the photosensitive layer having a silver chloride content of 50 mol% or more, wherein (1) the silver halide grains, in which 50% or more of the exterior faces of the grain is made up of a (111) plane, account for 50% or more of the total projected area of the silver halide grains of the emulsion, and the developing agent has a specific molecular structure, or (2) the tabular silver halide grains having an aspect ratio of 2 or more, which have the exterior faces of the grain made up of a (100) plane and a plane of projection of the grain in a shape of a rectangle with a length to width ratio ranging from 1:1 to 1:2, or which have the exterior faces of the grain made up of a (111) plane and a plane of projection in the shape of a hexagon with the ratio of the lengths of the neighboring sides ranging from 1:1 to 1:10, account for 50% or more of the total projected area of the silver halide grains of the emulsion, and the coupler is a pyrazolotriazole coupler having a specific molecular structure.

Disclosed is a silver halide color photographic light-sensitive material which is capable of forming an image by: after exposing a light-sensitive material, which comprises a first support having thereon at least one photographic light-sensitive layer comprising a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion, a developing agent, a compound capable of forming a dye upon coupling reaction with an oxidation product of the developing agent and a binder; attaching said light-sensitive material to a processing material, which comprises a second support having thereon a base and/or a base precursor, in such a way that the coated surfaces of the two materials faced each other, in the presence of a small amount of water which corresponds to from {fraction (1/10)} to 1 time water necessary for giving maximum swelling of all coated layers constituting the light-sensitive material and the processing material; and then heating the light-sensitive material and the processing material, wherein at least one said light-sensitive layer contains an emulsion having silver halide grains having a silver chloride content of 50 mol % or more, wherein the silver halide grains are tabular grains having (i) a main outer surface constituted by (100) faces, (ii) having a rectangular shape with adjacent major face (projection plane) edge ratios being from 1:1 to 1:2, and (iii) having an aspect ratio of 2 or more.

There is provided a silver halide photosensitive material for color photography which can stably form an image having high quality through a process that is simple, quick and causes less environmental damage. The present invention discloses a silver halide color photographic light-sensitive material which comprises a first support having thereon at least one photographic light-sensitive layer comprising a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion, a developing agent, a compound capable of forming a dye upon coupling reaction with an oxidation product of the developing agent, a binder, and a mercaptoazole compound, and a color image forming method comprising imagewise exposing the above-described silver halide color photographic light-sensitive material, supplying water to the light-sensitive material or a processing material comprising a second support having thereon a base or a base precursor, in an amount ranging from 1/10 to the equivalent of an amount which is required for the maximum swelling of the all coated layers of these materials, placing the light-sensitive material and the processing material face to face, and heating the materials at a temperature of 60.degree. to 100.degree. C. for a period of 5 to 60 seconds to form a color image. The present invention provides a light-sensitive material and a color image forming method characterized by high sensitivity and an insignificant fogging level.

An image recording system includes an image recording device and a developing device. When a latent image is formed by exposure in a frame on a silver halide photosensitive material, the image recording device records optically recognizable information relating to exposure at a position corresponding to the frame by light of an exposure amount which is sufficient to generate a silver image without developing. The developing device has a reading device for reading the information relating to exposure without photosensitizing the silver halide photosensitive material, and a developing device for developing the latent image in the frame corresponding to read information relating to exposure.
