An image processing apparatus according to the present disclosure includes: a position detection illumination unit; an image recognition illumination unit; an illumination control unit; an imaging unit; and an image processing unit. The position detection illumination unit outputs position detection illumination light. The position detection illumination light is used for position detection on a position detection object. The image recognition illumination unit outputs image recognition illumination light. The image recognition illumination light is used for image recognition on an image recognition object. The illumination control unit controls the position detection illumination unit and the image recognition illumination unit to cause the position detection illumination light and the image recognition illumination light to be outputted at timings different from each other. The position detection illumination light and the image recognition illumination light enter the imaging unit at timings different from each other. The image processing unit determines switching between the position detection illumination light and the image recognition illumination light on the basis of luminance information regarding a captured image by the imaging unit. The image processing unit performs position detection on the position detection object on the basis of an imaging result of the imaging unit with the position detection illumination light switched on and performs image recognition on the image recognition object on the basis of an imaging result of the imaging unit with the image recognition illumination light switched on.

A stage apparatus for a microscope includes a first stage provided on a mirror base of the microscope and fixed to a stage member that moves in an optical axis direction, a second stage that relatively moves over a surface of the first stage in a first direction, a third stage that relatively moves over a surface of the second stage in a second direction, the third stage having a placement portion for placing a microscope slide, and an exterior cover for covering at least a portion of the second stage and the third stage, the exterior cover being fixed to the first stage or the stage member. The exterior cover provides a space for the second stage and the third stage to move, and exposes the placement portion of the third stage.

A microscope system includes a microscope body, an XY stage mounted on the microscope body and including a stage configured to place a slide as an observation target and move in an X-axis direction and a Y-axis direction perpendicular to each other, and an XY two-dimensional scale plate fixed to the stage. Microscope system

A light source unit of the disclosure includes a plurality of light source sections, a light quantity detector, and a controller. The plurality of light source sections emit rays of colors different from each other. The light quantity detector receives a plurality of color rays emitted by the plurality of light source sections as spatially common light. The controller controls a light emission timing of each of the plurality of light source sections and a gain of the light quantity detector, and measures light quantities of the respective plurality of color rays at different timings and with different gains on a basis of a detection result of the light.

A microscope system comprises a microscope body, an image sensor mounted on the microscope body, and a stage that moves in an X-axis direction and a Y-axis direction, and places a slide as an observation object. The stage includes a mark used to indicate a stage reference position. A stage apparatus includes a first stage, a second stage movable in a first direction relative to the first stage, a sensor which reads a scale moving in the first direction together with the second stage and a sensor base which is formed from a material having a smaller thermal expansion coefficient than the first stage and fixes the sensor to the first stage.
