Provided is a process for producing a MnZn-base ferrite comprising: firing a compacted raw material to produce the MnZn-base ferrite, wherein the firing comprises, in the following order: a heating phase comprising gradually bringing a firing temperature from room temperature up to a maximum temperature; a maximum temperature holding phase comprising maintaining the maximum temperature for a period of time, wherein a partial pressure of oxygen (p2) at the maximum temperature holding phase is greater than an equilibrium partial pressure of oxygen (p1) as follows: p2&#x3e;p1, wherein the equilibrium partial pressure of oxygen (p1) is represented by the following equation: log(p1)=log(PO)=a&#x2212;b/T, wherein POis measured in a unit of %, and T is measured in a unit of absolute temperature K; and a cooling phase comprising gradually bringing the maximum temperature down to near room temperature, wherein a partial pressure of oxygen (p3) at the cooling phase is operated at an equilibrium partial pressure of oxygen based on the equation log(p3)=a&#x2212;b/T.

Method of producing MnZn-base ferrite

For the purpose of providing a Mn&#x2014;Zn based ferrite material that is small in magnetic field degradation in high frequency bands of 1 MHz or more, the Mn&#x2014;Zn based ferrite material includes: as main constituents, FeO: 53 to 56 mol %, ZnO: 7 mol % or less (inclusive of 0 mol %), and the balance: MnO; and as additives, Co: 0.15 to 0.65% by weight in terms of CoO, Si: 0.01 to 0.045% by weight in terms of SiOand Ca: 0.05 to 0.40% by weight in terms of CaCO; wherein the &#x3b4; value (the cation defect amount) defined in the present specification satisfies the relation 3&#xd7;10&#x2266;&#x3b4;&#x2266;7&#xd7;10; and the mean grain size is larger than 8 &#x3bc;m and 15 &#x3bc;m or less.

An Mn&#x2014;Zn ferrite wherein 0 to 5000 ppm of a Co oxide in a CoOconversion is contained in a basic component constituted by FeO: 51.5 to 57.0 mol % and ZnO: 0 to 15 mol % (note that 0 is not included) wherein the rest is substantially constituted by MnO; and a value &#x3b1; in a formula (1) below in said ferrite satisfies &#x3b1;&#x2267;0.93.&#x3b1;=((Fe&#x2212;Mn&#x2212;Co)&#xd7;(4.291.912.192.01))/(()&#xd7;100)&#x2003;&#x2003;formula (1).Note that in the formula (1), (Fe&#x2212;Mn&#x2212;Co): [wt %], A: FeO[mol %], B: MnO [mol %], C: ZnO [mol %] and D: CoO [mol %]. According to the present invention, a highly reliable Mn&#x2014;Zn ferrite used as a magnetic core of a power supply transformer, etc. of a switching power supply, etc., having a small core loss in a wide temperature range, furthermore, exhibiting a little deterioration of core loss characteristics under a high temperature (in a high temperature storage test) and having excellent magnetic stability, a transformer magnetic core and a transformer can be provided.

An Mn&mdash;Zn based ferrite composition having a main component comprised of Fe O : 51.5 to 54.5 mol %, ZnO: 19.0 to 27.0 mol % and the rest of substantially MnO and a first sub component comprised of 0.002 to 0.040 wt % of SiO , 0.003 to 0.045 wt % of CaO and 0.010 wt % or less of P with respect to 100 wt % of the main component. In a magnetic core for a transformer comprised of this composition, the THD of the transformer becomes &minus;84 dB or less in a broad frequency band, so it can be preferably used as a magnetic core, for example, for an xDSL modem transformer.

Ferrite core and its production method

In NiMnZn based ferrite, main components range within the scopes of Fe O &equals;53 to 59 mol %, MnO&equals;22 to 41 mol %, ZnO&equals;4 to 12 mol %, and NiO&equals;2 to 7 mol %, and sub-components of said NiMnZn based ferrite range within the scopes of SiO : 0.005 to 0.03 wt %, CaO: 0.008 to 0.17 wt % and P: 0.0004 to 0.01 wt %.

NiMnZn based ferrite

The Mn&mdash;Zn system ferrite according to the present invention contains main components comprising manganese oxide, zinc oxide and iron oxide, and subordinate components comprising bismuth oxide and molybdenum oxide. It comprises 22.0 to 25.0 mol % c of manganese oxide calculated as MnO, 22.0 to 25.0 mol% of zinc oxide calculated as ZnO and the remainder calculated as Fe,O,in main components. It has been sintered after adding thereto 50 to 400 ppm of a bismuth oxide component calculated as Bi,O,and 50 to 400 ppm of a molybdenum oxide component calculated as MoO,as subordinate component source materials. An initial magnetic permeability at 10 KHz is 8,500 or more at &minus;20 to 20&deg; C. and 10,000 or more at 20 to 100&deg; C., and the temperature characteristics of magnetic permeability is excellent.
