A control apparatus and a control method that controls an electric oil pump that supplies oil to a power transmission device transmitting a drive force to an axle. The control apparatus changes a PWM frequency in a PWM control of the electric oil pump to a lower frequency, when a vehicle is in a pulled state, when a vehicle speed is high, when a power source is operated at a high rotational speed, when a discharge amount from the electric oil pump is large, or when a noise in a vehicle interior is large. Thus, a drive noise of the pump can be reduced, or the amount of heat generated in the pump drive circuit and power consumption can be reduced.

Control apparatus and control method for vehicle electric oil pump

When an operation of internal combustion engine is stopped, the power consumption of a control unit is lowered, to measure an elapsed time. When the elapsed time reaches a standby time, the processing of lowering the power consumption is cancelled, to diagnose whether or not the leakage occurs in an evaporation purge line of a fuel vapor processing apparatus.

In the case where it is diagnosed whether or not the leakage occurs in a fuel vapor purge system from a standby time has elapsed after an engine operation was stopped, the power supply to processing circuits unnecessary for the leakage diagnosis is shut off, thereby suppressing the power consumption during the engine operation stop.

A diagnostic system for an internal combustion engine including a plurality of cylinder banks. The system includes a throttle position sensor mounted in each of the cylinder banks, for detecting a throttle opening of a throttle valve of an associated one of the cylinder banks. The throttle openings of the cylinder banks are controlled in accordance with a common target. An ECU makes a check to determine whether the detected throttle openings are same. The ECU determines in accordance with the comparison whether or not there is abnormality in at least one of the throttle valves and the throttle position sensors.
