A plastic molded product of olefin (co)polymer composition comprises 0.01-5.0 weight parts high molecular weight polyethylene with an intrinsic viscosity &eegr; in the range of 15-100 dl/g measured in 135&deg; C. tetralin and preferably 100 weight parts polypropylene. The high molecular weight polyethylene has an average particle size in the range of 1-5000 nm and is finely dispersed as fine granules in the polypropylene, so that high melt strength and high crystallization temperature are attained, enabling various molding methods to be performed with high speed productivity. Using the polymer composition, plastics such as a resin foam, a film, a sheet, a layered plastic article with a coated substrate surface, a hollow plastic article, an injection molded plastic article, a fiber, a nonwoven web or a continuous tube-shaped plastic are provided. The olefin (co)polymer composition is obtained by preparing high molecular weight polyethylene granules using e.g. a titanium transition metal compound catalyst, and adding these, e.g. as a polymerization catalyst of propylene, singly or together with a polyolefin preparing catalyst.

Disclosed is a process for producing olefin polymers or copolymers which can freely regulates the molecular weight of the polymers or copolymers as well as novel olefin polymers or copolymers excellent in rigidity, heat-resisting property and transparency, moldings and compositions thereof which find a wide variety of applications in versatile industrial parts including containers, films, sheets, filaments or fibers, featured by (1) a process for producing olefin polymers or copolymers by the aid of a catalyst comprised predominantly of the compounds: (A) a transition metal compound of the formula: Q(C H R )(C H R )MXY, (B) an aluminoxane, (C) a fine particulate carrier, and (D) an organoaluminum compound; (2) olefin polymers or copolymers characterized by (a) a specific ratio of isotactic pentad, (b) 2,1- and 1.3-propylene units contents in the polymer chain, (c) a specific Mw, (d) a specific Mw/Mn, and (e) in case of elevating temperature of o-dichlorobenzene continuously or stepwise up to given temperatures to measure the amount of eluated polyolefin at each temperature, the position of a main elution peak and the amount of components existing in the range of &plusmn;10&deg; C. of the main elution peak; (3) injection moldings, films, filaments or fibers, and non-woven fabric of the polypropylene obtained; and (4) a composition comprising the polypropylene obtained and an &agr;-nucleating agent or a composition comprising the polypropylene and a radical generator and having been produced by subjecting to the mixture to melt-kneading.

A water-repellent fiber having adhered to the fiber surface of a thermoplastic resin, which is a fiber a textile oil in the amount of 0.1-0.8% by weight of the fiber comprising ingredients of the following (A), (B) and (C) wherein the textile oil comprises: (A) 5-15% by weight of at least one alkylsulfonate, (B) 5-45% by weight of at least one compound selected from polyol esters and aliphatic acid alkanol amides, and (C) 40-90% by weight of at least one compound selected from dibasic acid esters and polyethylene glycol esters.

Water-repellent fiber and nonwovens made of the fiber

The invention provides a thermoplastic resin fiber which forms no dioxin-related compound when oxidized or burned, and is excellent in flame retardancy even when the content of a flame retardant is low. This flame-retardant fiber contains 5 to 15% by weight of a flame retardant having the following general formula (1): ##STR1## where R1 to R5 and R'1 to R'5 are independently Br or Cl with the Br/Cl ratio lying in the range of 100/0 to 40/60, and n is an integer of 2 to 16, and 2 to 8% by weight of antimony oxide as a flame retardant promoter.

Flame-retardant fiber and nonwoven fabric

A polypropylene conjugate fiber is provided which is suitable to a broad temperature range of hot roll processing to easily produce a non-woven fabric having a high tenacity and a good feel. The fiber comprises as a first component, a crystalline polypropylene having an isotactic pentad ratio of 0.930 or less and as a second component, a crystalline polypropylene having an isotactic pentad ratio of 0.945 or more. The first component is arranged so as to occupy 80% or more of the fiber surface, and the crystallinity of the fiber determined by X-ray diffraction is 30 to 50%.

Polypropylene conjugate fiber

A method for making nonwoven fabrics includes the steps of preparing heat-adhesive composite fibers including first and second components, forming a web of the composite fibers alone or containing at least 20% by weight of the composite fibers, and heat-treating the web at a temperature higher than the melting point of the second component but lower than the melting point of the first component, while increasing the temperature of the web at a rate of temperature rise of 100.degree. C./30 seconds and more. The first component is polypropylene having specific physical values with respect to density, isotactic pentad ratio, pentad ratio having two different kinds of configurations, and melt flow rate, and the second component is a polymer composed mainly of polyethylene.

Method for making nonwoven fabrics

A hot-melt-adhesive composite fiber having a broad temperature range of hot-melt adhesion, exhibiting a low heat-shrinkage over the whole temperature range thereof, having a high tenacity and suitable to production of a non-woven fabric having superior restoring properties, bulkiness, draping properties and feeling is provided, which composite fiber comprising a fiber-forming component and an adhesive component, the fiber-forming component comprising 0.5 to 30% by weight of a copolymer of a carboxyl group containing modified polyolefin with a polyamide, and the adhesive component comprising a carboxyl group-containing modified polyolefin, an unmodified polyolefin or a mixture thereof.

Hot-melt-adhesive composite fiber

A surface material for absorptive products comprising a succession of fluid permeable surface layers comprising a nonwoven fabric, an absorptive layer and a backing layer unpervious to fluid being provided, the nonwoven fabric comprising fibers of which surface of 50% or more being occupied by a hydrophobic resin, and a 0.1 to 1.0 weight % of a finishing agent being deposited onto the surface of the fibers. The finishing agent comprises a mixture of a sorbitan monooleate with a polyoxyethylene sorbitan monooleate in a weight ratio of 1:1 to 9:1. The fibers may further contain a specific wetting agent.

A process for producing a non-woven fabric of hot-melt-adhered composite fibers having a high strength in a small weight thereof and soft feeling is provided, which process comprises forming a web of fiber aggregate consisting of sheath and core type composite fibers alone composed of a first (core) component of a fiber-formable polymer and a second (sheath) component of one kind or more of polymers having a m.p.(s) lower than that of the first by 30.degree. C. or more and also having a specified average thickness, or mixed fibers of the composite fibers with other fibers containing the composite fibers in a specified amount; and heat-treating the web at a temperature lower than the m.p. of the first component and equal to or lower than that of the second, and affords to the second, a specified apparent viscosity as measured at a specified rate to thereby stabilize the form of the web by hot-melt-adhesion of the second.

Process for producing a non-woven fabric of hot-melt-adhered composite

Polyolefin foamed fibers consisting of composite fibers having a good spinnability, a small fineness and a non-waxy feeling, and a process for producing the same are provided, which foamed fibers having a structure wherein only a composite component (B) dominantly forming the fiber surface of composite fibers along the direction of the fiber axis thereof is substantially foamed and a part of the resulting foamed cells are burst open on the fiber surface, and which process comprises adding a foaming agent only to the above component (B) and combining two composite components so that the composite ratio thereof is 30/70 or higher and the theoretical average thickness of the component (B) in the cross-section of the unstretched fibers is 2 to 15 microns.
