A liquid-crystal display apparatus includes a plurality of rectangular pixels. Each pixel includes a first electrode and a second electrode. A slit region and a concave and convex portion are formed in the first electrode. It further includes a control circuit. The plurality of pixels are constituted of a first pixel group and a second pixel group. First data lines and for applying a voltage on the first electrode are provided closer to the first substrate than the first electrode. In each pixel that constitutes the first pixel group, a second data line extension extending from a second data line is provided adjacent to a first data line. In each pixel that constitutes the second pixel group, a first data line extension extending from the first data line is provided adjacent to the second data line.

Liquid-crystal display apparatus and method of giving a pretilt to liquid-crystal molecules

A method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display includes the steps of forming pixel electrodes on inside surfaces of a couple of substrates facing each other, each of the pixel electrodes having gaps; sealing, between the couple of substrates with the pixel electrodes formed, a liquid crystal layer containing a light curing material; and exposing the liquid crystal layer through use of a light shielding film having a plurality of openings, under a voltage applied between a pair of pixel electrodes facing each other on the couple of substrates, where the gaps are alternately disposed to form a staggered arrangement between the pair of pixel electrodes and, spacing between adjacent openings of the light shielding film is smaller than spacing, in a substrate surface direction, between the gap of a pixel electrode on one substrate and the gap of a pixel electrode on the other substrate.

Liquid crystal display and manufacturing method thereof

An electron gun includes a grid electrode having a thin plate portion in which an electron beam aperture is formed, wherein the thin plate portion is formed by using a die and punch die to bulge a portion of a metal plate in the plate thickness direction to such an extent as to correspond to the desired dimension of the thin plate portion to form a bulged portion and cutting the bulged portion. With this configuration, it is possible to eliminate a problem of the related art thin plate portion of a grid electrode for an electron gun formed by coining work, which is a rib is formed around the thin plate portion, to make the gap between the thin plate portion and a cathode narrower, since the diameter of the thin plate portion can be enlarged, and to provide beam apertures at arbitrary positions of the thin plate portion.

Electron gun and production method thereof

A color cathode-ray tube which increases the degree of freedom in designing its main electron lens, decreases the electron beam spot diameter, and achieves high resolution, in which the between the focusing electrode (15) applied with the focusing voltage (Vf) and the anode electrode (17) applied with the anode voltage (Va), there is provided an intermediate electrode (16) applied with the potential Vm which is higher than the focusing voltage (Vf) and lower than the anode voltage (Va), and the focusing electrode (15). These voltages are set by a dividing resistor (30).

Cathode ray tube

An in-line electron gun for a color cathode ray tube having a main lens comprised of an in-line focusing electrode and accelerating electrode, with which it is possible to easily improve an assembly precision of field-correcting electrode plates provided at the focusing electrode and accelerating electrode and having three through apertures through which the R, G, and B electron beams pass and with which it is possible to easily perform an adjustment of aberration of the main lens. The two side through apertures among the three through apertures formed in the field-correcting electrode plate provided at the focusing electrode and accelerating electrode are formed basically as circular apertures with arc shaped cut-away portions continuous with the outside of the circular apertures and concentric with the circular apertures.
