A steering control device for a vehicle controls a steering device having a steering mechanism and a drive unit configured to provide the steering mechanism with steering force for the wheels. The steering control device includes a detection unit to detect the steering angle; and a control unit to calculate a target value of a current to be supplied to the drive unit as a current command value, and execute automatic steering control to automatically control steering of the vehicle by causing the drive unit to be supplied with the current of the current command value. When an absolute value of the steering angle comes to a predetermined first threshold or more during the automatic steering control, the control unit decreases an upper limit value of an absolute value of the current command value as the absolute value of the steering angle increases.

A parking mode selection apparatus selects one parking mode among from plural parking modes including at least a perpendicular parking or a parallel parking. A range selector issues a range selection command signal representative of an operation range of a shift-by-wire type automatic transmission meeting with a driver's intention. The operating range is at least one of P(parking)-range, R(reverse)-range, N(neutral)-range and D(drive)-range. An actuator causes the transmission to assume a certain operation range when receiving an instruction signal. A control unit issues the instruction signal by processing the range selection command signal, so that the transmission is able to assume an operation range that meets with the driver's intention. The control unit is configured to carry out, when the range selector fails to issue the range selection command signal, presuming a range selection intended by the driver based on a previous operation of the range selector; and based on the presumption, causing through the actuator the transmission to actually carry out at least one of first and second range selection operations. The first range selection operation meets with the driver's intention and the second range selection operation is to maintain the operation range that has been kept just before the failure of the range selector.

A belt type continuously variable transmission includes a primary pulley (), a secondary pulley (), a belt () wound around the primary pulley and secondary pulley; a sensor () for detecting a vehicle running state; and a controller (). The controller () is programmed to: set a final pulley ratio achieved by a shift of the pulley ratio of the primary and secondary pulleys, based on the vehicle running state, compute a primary steady oil pressure supplied to the primary pulley and a secondary steady oil pressure supplied to the secondary pulley based on an input torque inputted to the primary pulley and an actual pulley ratio, determine a target shift speed based on the final pulley ratio, compute a target stroke speed of the primary pulley and/or secondary pulley from the target shift speed, compute a target pulley rotation speed of the primary pulley, based on the vehicle running state, compute a transitional oil pressure correction amount which can attain the target shift speed, in response to the target pulley rotation speed and the target stroke speed, and set one of the oil pressure supplied to the primary pulley and the oil pressure supplied to the secondary pulley, to the sum of the steady oil pressure and the transitional oil pressure correction amount, so as to attain the final pulley ratio.
